First place we ate at on our trip to Saugatuck. Above average burgers and fries. A little pricey, but so is everything else in town. Friendly staff. Seated and attended to promptly. Didn't feel rushed. Outdoor seating overlooking the dock....very nice. will go back.
Lots of choices but as far as taste...wasn't worth the price. The view was great though. Would not recommend. My husband got fish and chips and paid like 15 dollars for some french fries and average fish. I had the jungle salad...very weird mixture of ingredients.
The food was excellent. Nice ambiance Great Food.!!!!!!! It was so nice and charming. Close to the water. Staff was very effecient and friendly. The chicken pasta sacilian was excellent. Salmon was wonderful!!!!!
My fiance and I went to the Mermaid last night and loved it! The wait to sit outside was about 25 minutes, so we just ate inside. I'm glad we did because it was a really hot summer evening and close to sunset, so the sun would have been shining directly in our faces had we sat outside (They have umbrellas, but with the angle the sun was at, it was too hard to block it completely). However, I will sit outside next time because it has a beautiful view of the Kalamazoo river. We ordered mozzarella sticks for an appetizer, and they were fairly good, but the best part was that they arrived promptly. For dinner, I ordered a delicious turkey burger, and the fries it came with were perfectly crispy. My fiance ordered "Not Your Mama's Meatloaf", which came with super creamy mashed potatoes and broccoli. He really liked all of it. They offer more gourmet items on the menu, but we wanted to stick to the less expensive items. Our server was GREAT! She brought us new waters before we even finished our glasses, was very cheerful but not overly annoying. I highly recommend the Mermaid to anyone who wants a relaxed atmosphere with a wide range of entrees in both price and taste.
My husband and I ate dinner at the Mermaid on a beautiful summer night in Saugatuck. We loved the view of the Kalamazoo River while enjoying our appetizer of Santa Fe Quesadillas. Our server was knowlegeble and friendly. She expertly recommended the margarita chicken as well as the walleye for my husband. Both were uniquely delicious and we loved it so much we came the next day for lunch! We again enjoyed a great outdoor view, awesome service, and this time, the crunchy chicken salad and fish and chips. I would recommend the Mermaid to anyone who visits Saugatuck that wants great waterfront seating, awesome food, and the personal feeling of a locally owned resturant.
