A trip to the zoo...
By Gypsy Willow, 7/25/07
There were a lot of things that I really liked about this zoo. There are a surprising number of child-friendly and interactive times where children get to experience some of the animals first hand. There are a plethra of animals and such to see, and they have little times during the day where you can talk to some of the trainers and ask them questions. When you compare the gift shop to other places in Michigan you will find that they are pretty fairly priced, and not unreasonable for your trip momentos. Also, they have a lot of information available about the animals that they have there, including updates and such, which ties in to make the experience a more enjoyable one. There were a couple of things I didn't like about the zoo, however. I wouldn't suggest the zoo for a small child, or anyone who has a child in a stroller. While there are more areas than in a usual zoo for a child to interact with the animals, the walls of the normal exhibits are far too high and you will find yourself lifting your child more often than not, to see the animals. Some of the animals, especially in the aquarium, looked as though their holding areas weren't cleaned on a regular basis, and the areas themselves were a little cramped. There were a couple of animals that were clearly aggitated at the constricted amount of space in which they had to maneuver. If you have a bad back, or are an animal sympath, I wouldn't suggest this as a stop on the trip.

Will return.
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 3/19/07
Like it well enough to return soon. All the family will enjoy the experience. Best weather is during May through September. Not far from President Gerald Ford Library/Museum.

GREAT CHANGES HAVE TAKEN PLACE
By Jacci, 7/31/06
THE ZOO HAS MADE GREAT STRIVES AND ADDED SO MANY WONDERFUL THINGS LIKE THE SEARAYS AND WALLABIES. THEY HAVE A FEW IMPROVEMENTS TO DO, BUT IT LOOKS SO MUCH BETTER THAN IN YEARS PAST AND IS SO MUCH MORE INTERACTIVE.

Visit Often
By The Wagners, 9/20/06
This is a medium sized zoo, but it has a lot ot offer. They have monkeys, bears, fish, penguins, a petting zoo, camel rides, and more. Many weekends, you can find zoo employees with animals for kids and adults alike to touch and experience. Zoo takes about 2 hours to see everything. Cost is $6 for adults.
