This 125-acre botanic garden and sculpture park is Michigan's second-largest cultural destination with the state's largest tropical conservatory and the Midwest's most significant outdoor sculpture experience with more than 170 works by world-renowned artists, indoor and outdoor gardens, nature trails, and the monumental Leonardo da Vinci's Horse: The American Horse.
We absolutely loved seeing the butterflies in the midst of may. While you were in the quarantine where the butterflies are some might fly on you. Seeing the thrill of the kids with butterflies on their hands is priceless.
I love Fredderik Meijer Gardens! It is great for kids. In the summer the butter fly exhibit is open it is so beatiful. It is full of fun. There is so much to do it takes a long time to get bored. The out door trails are so fun it feals like your on a safari! Out side the kids play ground made out of wood it is really nice they put so much efort into it. There is a small plant museme. The funnest time of the year is to go around christmas. They have christmas trees desighend from all around the world and you have to find 1 specail thing on the tree it is really cool. They have a cafe but I don't recamend to eat there not so great. A another good time of the year to go is in the spring. The butterflys arive all the beatiful flowers start to grow. There is so much more to do there! I go there every season. It is an awesome feild trip for school
The Gardens are the best! It seems that they have something different going on every time that i visit. This place is a rare gem and one of the best botanic gardens i have ever visited. The Children's garden and Farm Garden just add to the fun of the trip. There is something for everyone. Thank you Mr. and Mrs. Meijer - this is something that everyone should experience at least once in their life.
The botanical gardens are the tip of the iceberg. There's the sculpture gardens, galleries, and the kid's sculpture garden that is both fun and educational. I'm 21 and I had fun playing in it. Art from a variety of artists and styles. A must see if you are in the area.
I liked pretty much everything about Frederik Meijer Gardens & Sculpture park. The sculptures were amazing. They were so big and complex, I found myself wondering how someone could make something like that. Outside the Gardens it was just as gorgeous. I prefer the going in the summer for the outside scenery. My favorite part was the Garden inside. They had every kind of exotic plant you could think of. It is really cool to see so many foreign plants growing inside and in Michigan. I have been to Frederik Meijer Gardens about 5 or 6 times and I would definitely go again.
Meijer did it big time for this town. Anyone interested in art, plants, a holocost rememberence, a good get a way from southeast Michigan or Illinois should consider this day trip. It is east of Grand Rapids, on HWY 696- easy to reach and very reasonable. The volunteer staff are friendly Grand Rapids folk, mostly seniors, who are very pleasant. Walk in the woods, look at the plants, check out the indoor and out door flowers....Just Go
I love it. The gardens get better every year and the sculptures are wonderful. Something great for West Michigan. My daughter and I take her 2 little ones every year to the butterfly exhibit. They talk about it all year long.
Now that the Children's garden is operating we'll probably go more often. It's a wonderful hands on area for children.
Only difficult time came when we got to the area with the water in the Children's Garden. It's just the right level for the kids to want to climb in the water and they weren't allowed to do so. Hard to explain that to a hot, sweaty two year old.
Thanks again to the Meijers.
