Salem is notorious for the witch trials held there in 1692. The Witch Dungeon Museum takes you back in time to Salem Village during that time period through a re-enactment of the witch trials. In all, 156 were accused of being witches and 20 were put to death. The museum's performance is based on historical transcripts from that year. Admission also includes a tour of a dungeon, which recreates the atmosphere of the original site where those accused of witchcraft were held.

It was a great place!! I enjoyed it from the witch trial to actual dungeon! It was very nice! The witch trial was very life! And in the dungeon we took a tour of what it would have been in the 1600's! They had amazing life like people there also! All i have to say that it was great!! I will defenitly go there again! Ps. they also had great prices!!

Dungeoun=Basement
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 10/28/07
You sit in a room with a stage and two woman come out and act out a small portion of the witch trials then 50 some people are crammed and walk down a staircase to the "dungeon". It isn't an original dungeon. They have one piece of rock that comes from the original dungeon. There are mannequins that are displayed to look like woman who were held as witches. It is pretty lame and hard to hear the "tour guide". At the end of the 2 minute walk you are herded into a small room which is the gift shop. I don't even think the little kids on the tour thought it was cool.

Not a good trip
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 07/08/07
I went to Salem in the early 80's and had a much better time. Since then, its all commercial, all shops & food, not much history when a rude teenager collects way too much money for one museum and they trap you in the gift shop until they want you to be seated.

Interesting

I recommend going here because it gives good information on what happened during the witch trials. Thankfully, it is not a "haunted" house. By the way, stay away from those in Salem during October, they are not scary and they cost A LOT for only a one minute walk-thru. Stick to the witch trial stuff and you will have a good time and learn something!!

A fun time.

Purely entertainment. It was fun, especially once you went down to the dungeon area. Don't expect anything grand.

Awful

The lady taking money as you walked in was rude. They trap you in the small gift shop with the rest of the crowd until the show starts instead of letting you go in and sit down in the theatre. The "play" is real short (the actresses were pretty good). The "dungeon" was a joke, especially the props. Where does it end? The gift shop again, of course. A total waste of time and money.
