I have been going to Salem Willows since I was a little kid, and now I take my kids (10, 6, and 2) there. It just makes for a lovely day. The kids love the kiddie rides and games, the food is cheap and we all love the taffy, and we especially love walking out on the pier and watching folks fish, and then going on the beach. It's a nice, old fashioned place, and you can feel you blood pressure go down as soon as you get out of the car!
Mahi Cruises is the best kept secret in Salem! Have been taking advantage of this friendly little business since it opened 3 years ago. They offer public cruises all day long, all summer long. The boat is cheap, fun, entertaining, clean, comfortable, and has a relaxing yet lively feel while aboard .Yummy fresh food and great drinks too! Suggest them to all!
Can't wait to go back!
Last weekend my friends and I headed to salem for a day trip and didn't even know about Salem Willows until we got lost and ended up in the parking lot, which is more then ample in size by the way and was free to park. Not knowing anything about the park we ended up walking around to see more and never ended up leaving. Great views of the harbor, Beverly I think, Hobbes homemade ice cream was the perfect treat, and there was live music being performed throughout the afternoon.
But what really kept us there all afternoon was Mahi Cruises - a harbor cruise company that runs from the pier. Sooo much fun! We ended up taking a last minute 2pm harbor cruise to Marblehead and couldn't get off the boat for the rest of the day. We ended up taking two more cruises throughout the afternoon and into the evening. The crew was awesome, great food on the boat and they had a full bar...really good tropical cocktails and CHEAP! They only charged us half-price for the second cruise and didn't even charge us for the last cruise. Great views of Salem, Marblehead and Beverly.
I have friends visiting from CA over the 4th and without a doubt plan on bringing them to the Salem Willows and on a boat cruise, or two, or three!
Theres nothing to dislike about Salem Massachusetts I enjoyed every minute while I was there I moved away in 2004 and since then everything has changed but its still my home and nothing will ever change that but to be honest to the people that tour there dont listen to the kids or punks that yell out tourest taste like chicken they are just trying to freak you out. I know I use to be one of them along time ago but it is a wonderful place to go for vacation someday ill bring my kids up there to show them where I was born and raised.
During our family vacation to Salem, we originally went to Salem Willows to go a boat ride or cruise, but it turn out to be more than that. Yes they did have a lovely cruise that lasted about an hour. The person giving the cruise pointed out many locations and knew what he was talking about. One of the main things I think known at Salem Willows was they make there own popcorn and taffy there and it’s not expensive either and taste great. They have flavored popcorn as well, try the spermint it tastes better than the mix one. Along with this they have a few places to eat like a pizza place, Chinese food, and basics like burger/fries. They have two big arcade/game rooms and they were fun for all ages not just little kid games. Even my parents had some fun with the games. At Salem Willows they even have a beach and park area with benches so it's great if you want to spend the afternoon or day. If you go on the trolly rides they do stoped there, so if you want you don't even have to drive.
Salem Willows Park really does have it all...food, tons of arcade games (some will bring you back to your childhood), there's a huge, beautiful carousel and rides for the little ones. Relax and have a great picnic (can use your grill, too), take a walk along the shore, or a dip at the clean beach... fish off the pier, great for kids, or kids at heart. Plenty of space to play frizbee or catch. There's plenty of shade if you need it. Also, there are tennis courts, a baseball field, and nice walking trails. I just LOVE IT and go there as often as I can. No matter how many cars you see in the parking lot there is always so much room to spread out once you get into the park. I also love the jazz concerts on Tuesday evenings at the bandstand in the summer. YOU'll LOVE IT.. GO !!
I live in a nerighboring town and I am young adult so I like to play the video games there. I have been going to the Willows as long as I can remember and all I have to summarize it is great food, fun games, fun times.Great for people of all ages to go to the Willows and just have some fun on old and current arcade machines and to enjoy the park.
You get the best of everything at low cost. Visit the arcade a play games you may have forgotten about, challenge a friend at skee ball and win a prize, play a game of mini golf, walk by the water or the beach, eat all kinds of goodies like ice cream, chinese food, fried dough, all at very inexpensive prices, a place for people of all ages!
