Cape Cod Central Railroad, Hyannis

My wife and did the Dinner Train for our 20th anniversary. Quite simply it was very nice, food and service was fantastic and we would certainly do it again. Felt like stepping back in time as well. The inside of the dinner cars are beautifully decorated. It was a positive exprience all around and have recommended it to family and friends.

We enjoyed the scenic train ride. It wasn't scenic all of the time, but there were some nice scenes. The first half of the ride is narrated and we learned quite a bit about the Cape (Cranberry bogs, etc.) The only problems that we had was that it was hot (no AC and poor ventilation) and our kids, aged 2 and 3 fell asleep - actually that wasn't really a problem. I would recommend this. It was very relaxing.

We went on the scenic train ride. It was so relaxing & beautiful. We would definetly like to take our family next time. It was very informative. We learned a lot out Cape Cod that we hadn't heard before.

Likes: The guy who took passengers' pictures did a pretty good job. I ended up shelling out 20 bucks for our family photo taken on the train. Dislikes: It wasn't that scenic. The train was so noisy that we couldn't make out what the tour guide was saying most of the time. The train was scheduled to leave at 11:30, but didn't leave until 12:00-- they were trying to sell the last seats even when it's already late. Recommendation: Not recommended. I would have never taken the ride if not for my 2-year-old, who was a big fan of trains. My kid didn't enjoy the ride either because of the excessive noise and the boring scenes. If you still want to take a ride after reading my review, please do yourself a favor and try to get yourself seated in the mid-section of the cart so that you are as far away from the noise sources as possible. Also, try to sit on the left side (when you are facing away from the rail station) because the majority of the scenes the tour guide talks about are on that side.

This was the noisiest train I've ever been on. I came off with a severe headache. I've worked on steam engines in my career for years and have been on many different railroad cars, and they are obviously going to be a bit noisy, but have never been on one that was so loud. Perhaps some maintenance is in order!

We decided to give the train ride a shot. I am happy we did it, it was something to go on the train, relax and see the scenic route, it is especially nice a rainy day, just something to pass the time in an enjoyable fashion. I would do this again.

My wife and I have NEVER had a more incredible and romantic dining experience. We had a 6-course gourmet meal, went over the bridge at the Cape Cod Canal, travelled more than 50 miles of Cape Cod scenery and had a great bottle of wine by candlelight! We have reservations for one of the Christmas dinner trains since our summer trip was so fantastic. If you haven't done this trip, you must!
