John F. Kennedy Hyannis Museum
For years the Kennedys have vacationed at their summer home in Hyannisport. While the compound is private, visitors to this museum get a glimpse of what this special place meant to the 35th president through video and photo displays. In them, John F. Kennedy is shown relaxing at the place he called "the one place I can think and be alone." A memorial to John F. Kennedy, Jr, who died in a plane crash in 1999, was recently added.
Just a bunch of photographs on the walls. Better information from the web than here. With the Kennedys from the area, thought there could have been a lot more interactive and interesting displays. Tour might take 15 minutes tops if you watch the ten minute video footage of old newsreels.
Not worth the price of admission ($5.00)
Our visit included our five year old daughter who gained valuable information and learned enough about the Kennedy family to share at school. We also went on the harbor cruise which overlooks the Kennedy compound and she was thrilled to make another physical connection to the museum. My husband and I enjoy it as well. It was a great value and took about a half hour.
