Harbor Tours, Gloucester

Their New! harbor shuttle did not show up on Friday night, July 21st. Left us stranded with our guests and caused us to miss our dinner reservations on Rocky Neck. We waited for 45 minutes and even had the harbor master call them. No luck. No sign. They are still advertising this on their website and on the company voice mail. Shame on them for thinking so little of their clients.

Last Sunday, we boarded the "Lighthouse Cruise" for what turned out to be a fun, very friendly celebration...One of the couples on the boat was celebrating their 20th wedding anniversary and, by the end of the cruise, we All felt like "old friends". The Island sights are amazing, the crew knowledgeable and helpful...Overall, a MUST DO AGAIN sometime in the future!!!

Jul 26, 2010 was the anniversary of the ADA (Americans with Disabilities) . This was a day we bought tickets for this cruise. However we never did go (not because we didn't want to) but because the Captain decided that he would take a vote (from 35 other passengers) and if one objected to our youngest daughter's service dog being there, my daughter would have to be removed from the boat. A legal brief has been filed against this company by the MA Attorney General's Office. So if this type of discrimination (denial of access based on disability) doesn't bother you, support Harbor Tours with your dollars. What happened to us is against both federal and state laws. But beware, maybe next time the captain will decide that blue eyes or black hair might be offensive enought to be voted off the boat or whatever the Captain's whim happens to be on the day you buy your tickets. Hopefully Harbor Tours follows other laws - they didn't follow Federal and State laws protecting those with disabilities on July 26, 2010, Let's hope they follow safety regulations! The statement made to us by Capt. Story was that "he was the law." Buyer beware.

This trip was way better than I expected.I took my 80 year old parents and they also loved it. We had to reschedule once due to bad weather but I totaly respect the captain for this. I am certain these owners do not cancel just because they do not feel like going out.If they were greedy they would take the risk and take your money but they do the right thing and will not jepordize the safty of the passengers or the boat. Thank You Cape Ann Harbor Tours for not putting me or my parents in danger.

The natural beauty of this harbor is well worth exploring. The lobstering demo is educational, and an interesting part of the tour. Sorry to hear that other tourists didn't have good weather during their vacation days, and the boat didn't sail that day... We would certainly go back for a fun and relaxing ride with them anytime!

I'm sure this tour shows all the great sites that other Gloucester tours show. But the problem with this company is its false advertising. My son is five years old and in the last year of a three-year schedule of chemotherapy for leukemia. He loves the ocean and he loves lobstering. He plays lobstering at home. He watches a video about lobstering regularly. And he also loves our annual trip to Gloucester so he can see the lobster traps and boats. For the past few years, Gloucester has been a haven away from the doctors and treatments. Last year we booked the 1 p.m. lobstering tour only to have it cancelled the morning of the tour. This year, my son really wanted to do it since he was so disappointed last year. And so we booked it again only to have it once again cancelled the morning of the tour. Why advertise a daily tour when it never actually happens? The owner told my wife that cancellations "occasionally" happen, but two years in a row? That's just a lame excuse for "I don't feel like taking my boat out today." I'm sorry that my son had to be disappointed by this scam artist two years in a row. As parents we certainly will avoid this rip off company in the future. If your not going to take the boat out on the lobstering tour when you say you will, then just advertise the schedule as a "when I feel like taking people out, so don't count on it" type of thing. Thank you Harbor Tours for disappointing my son, who has already been through so much in his short life, once again. I highly urge all people thinking about this tour to choose another company. Don't let this man hurt other children's hopes of a tour that hardly ever happens.

The tour was awesome...very much a 'not to be missed' event! Everything from making the reservation to saying good bye on the dock was well done. The Captain has a terrific "Gloucester" sense of humor and the young man who narrated, Nick, did a superlative job with his history and facts, and even covered some of the local lore along the way. The Cape Ann Island is always gorgeous and scenic - this trip is great for local and visitors alike! We entertained a business colleague from France who has never seen the Cape Ann area, especially from the ocean - he was delighted. And for a 2 1/2 hour tour, the rate is very reasonable.
