6 reviews for Kitty O'Shea's
Just wanted to try something different.
By kcurb, 11/08/09
Party of 4. It took 45 minutes to get our appetizer, nachos. When we finally got our meals two of them were wrong. We sent them back and it took about 20 minutes to get the right meals. When we all finally had our food two of the meals were so disgusting we couldn't eat them. The veggie meal smelled and tasted like garbage and it was very cold (it was supposed to be fresh and hot.) My veggie wrap was so full of tomatoes (even though I asked to NOT have any tomatoes) that I couldn't eat it. The tomatoes were so watery and disgusting it was more of a mess than anything else. At the end, the waiter did not know how to run a meal plan card. The whole ordeal took almost two hours. I will never go back.

Great Atmosphere
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 11/14/07
I love the community of this place. Music 7 Nights a week. A great group of regulars ages from 21 to 61. Best Guiness on the North Shore. The Atmosphere is warm, casual, and intriguing.

a good pub ON the North Shore
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 07/18/06
The other positive reviews have it right. Good Guinness, casual, freindly and authentic Irish, especially during the week. Weekend nights tend to attract a large, young crowd. I had a Cobb Salad there for lunch today and it was terrific. I've also had the Shepard's Pie and its also good.

Relax....
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 01/20/06
I have been going to Kitty's for years.... my husband and I love a Guinness or a Belhaven, and often we bring our four children in early for supper. All of us love the casual rustic atmosphere. I feel comfortable there whether I'm wearing a baseball cap and jeans, or slacks and a blouse... Whether I'm there for a quick bite after work, or out with my honey for a couple of pints after a long week. Timing is everything though. The crowd you meet depends on the time of day or the day of the week - and that's okay. I would never suggest going there on a first date unless it was someone you knew really well. Kitty's is the kind of place that lacks pretension... you go there with your friends or to see your friends or to make friends.... not for a first date, unless it was a stop after a nice weeknight dinner..AND only then, if you really liked your date. :) It's friendly and warm and loud... except for Thursday evening when there are a lot of rough and tumble guys eating dinner and drinking after work. And that's all good too, I just avoid it on Thursdays when I'm not in the mood to be caroused by strangers! :) The food can be great, homey and filling. There are off nights, but very rarely. My daughter swears they have the best sheppards pie anywhere. My 16 year old foodie loves the fish and chips, and I took my 21 year old there for his first Guinness at the bar, on Father's Day - his 21st birthday. Every one sang and congratulated him. It's not for everyone, but for those of us who love it - it's like home. Except late on a Fri. or Sat. night when the college crowd trickles in...lol... then it's all about the youngsters... but that's okay - it's a place for everyone, just at different times and days. Those who might not have enjoyed their first experience should pick another day and time and give it a second chance... you might be pleasantly surprised. (And word about the staff... in all the years I've been going there, I have only met hardworking, friendly people who try their best to see you have a good time.)

Worst Bar in the North Shore
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 08/13/05
You might think that the rude, bovine staff and dirty atmosphere would be enough to keep anyone out of this pub. Strangely, this bar manages to attract frightningly testosterone ridden men in droves and by the end of the night everyone was acting beligerent and nonsensical . The food was horrible, but pretty authentic from my experience(The Irish are hardly known for their cuisine). The music was ridiculously loud--This is a horrible spot for a date in just about everyway!

Best Pub on the North Shore
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 12/12/04
Kitty's has the best on-tap selection of British Isles ales and stouts in the North Shore. For some reason (is it the Irish staff, the authentic pub atmosphere, the reasonable price?) the Guiness tastes better here than anywhere else. The food is excellent, with Irish classics like bangers and mash, shepherd's pie, and Guiness stew. The portions are generous and the prices are reasonable. This is more than just a bar - if you hit it at the right time, it can be a great place to take the family for a great meal.
