I loved the zoo. They are an amazing free zoo. They are constantly expanding. They are a zoo featuring, Canadan, american, Mexican and Australian animal and parts of Europe and south america. They have a variety of animals including bald eagles. It is incredible seeing the open enclosures for most animals. Gives great views and great picture opportunities.
The place is nice, with a lot of trees. There is not a lot of animals, but they are beautiful and kids loved them.
We were not able to easily find a nice place for tourists in Salisbury, the Zoo saved a part of our afternoon
i loved the atomasphere because you felt like you were in a real actual jungle! mostly animal lovers would like it because thats all thats there. but still dont go in the middle of the winter cause you'd be way way way to cold so go in the summer or the spring.oh and guess what? you can have a birthday party there!
Free, comparitively close if you live on the shore, usually not crowded AT ALL, not terribly hard to find. More or less just get on rt.50 and look for brown signs, then look for zoo signs. Looks like they are expanding too, which is good.
More species is always good, but I'm glad they seem to be taking only what they can afford to feed and upkeep.
For those of us without kids it can be somewhat odd or annoying to have so many little ones underfoot. Normally the parents are there, but unsupervised children and children of the loud and screamy variety can make a visit slightly less enjoyable. Also, I feel that having the playground so close to the zoo (While awsome in many other ways) makes the zoo seem like something for children- which by definition means 'something to grow out of' like, say saturday morning cartoons. In other words, if you are going there to study expect a lot of parents pointing at the jaguar saying "Kitty...Kitty" and so on.
In Summation; good place to go when a trip to the national zoo is too far. Dont expect to see too many really exotic things, I'd classify it more as a 'regional pride' zoo with lots of local and american animals. Well worth the gas and a few dollars donation :)
We love this zoo. It is so quaint and charming. It's great for children; they can play at the park, see the animals at the zoo; take a walk around the lake. Easily a whole day adventure with the plentiful picnic areas! There should be more places like this--it is wonderful!
First of all I enjoyed the animals that you have. I would deff recommend it to others if there looking for a zoo to go visit. I think you should maybe get more animals though. Would attract more people. And also put a petting zoo in there for the kids and adults enjoyment. Other then that the zoo is great! Very clean.
I expected to see more animals that don't live on the Eastern Shore, like elephants, rhinos, giraffes, gorillas, etc. I was almost bored to look at the animals. It was nothing fantastic. But what else can I say....it was free!
Naturalistic setting of North and South American animals
By A Yahoo Contributor, 12/13/04
Very naturalistic zoo featuring native North and South American species. A small zoo by any measure but very well laid out and kept up. Very little of the concrete and other man made materials to distract from the settings of the animals as you see in many zoos around the country.
