Noted for exterior details, including Palladian and bullseye windows and finely carved interior woodwork. Built 1795-1805 in the transitional Georgain style. Poplar Hill is open for tours on the 1st and 3rd Sundays of each month from 1 - 4 p.m.

Don't count on it to be open according to schedule

I checked their website on July 1 and it said they would be giving tours on July 3. Drove for an hour and a half to get there on the afternoon of July 3 only to discover that, starting that day, it had been closed for a period of several days for renovations . As the house is open for tours only two days a month, I would think they could schedule renovations for times other than the scheduled days for visiting, and give people who go to their website for information more than 48 hours notice regarding unscheduled closings. Salisbury tax dollars go to support it!

Best part of our trip to Salisbury

What a wonderful surprise to find this beautiful home! Lots of history, lots of stories. Couldn't believe it is free on the the 1st and 3rd Sunday of the month.
