Jolly Roger Amusement Park
Maryland's biggest amusement park feautring a variety of race tracks, Splash Mountain Water Park with waterslides, pools and a lazy river. The park also has many games and two themed miniature golf courses.
I have been going to oc since I was 8yrs old I am know 20. For the first time in 05 i went to jolly rogers speed world and had a blast I would not suggest taking kids between 2 and 10 to speed world because there is not many go-karts geared towards them because of the height restrictions, The rides in Jolly rogers are geared towards younger children between 2-12 so if you have older children I would suggest the boardwalk more of a selection and bigger rides. There water park is awesome the lines are not that bad when I went when it was a great beach day so not that many people were at the water park, the packages for the waterpark are good i would not do the 2 hour wrist band for the go kart unless I went during the day otherwise it is a waste of money.
WE went to the water park last summer. It was ok. But the workers were VERY VERY rude and kicked us off the rides if we went on more than 2 times. This would be the last thing I would do in OC. Avoid it if you can cause it is not that great.
When I was riding the Stockart in the Speedworld, my car wouldn't turn and I ended up slamming into the wall going full speed. After a couple minutes, the workers finally came over and asked what happened, not bothering to ask if I was okay. When I told them that the car wouldn't turn at all, their only response was "Well why didn't you hit the brakes?" When you're worrying about trying to turn, you don't think about hitting the brakes. Plus there wouldn't have been time to stop even if I hit the brakes because the track is so small. After finally asking if I was okay, the workers tried to pry the car out from under the pit gate (where I hit) and they couldn't get it out because it was stuck under so far. After they finally got it pried out, the wheels were still locked up, which proved that it wasn't I who did anything wrong. It was the car. Yet they still kicked me off the ride, didn't offer me another ride, nothing. When we went to file an incident report just incase I would have back or neck problems later on, the worker was very snippy and rude to us and didn't want to get the manager. Overall, don't go there. And if you do, don't go to the race track. I've heard from numerous people that they don't maintain the cars. Now this is proof that they don't maintain their cars.
The package deal will allow your riders to get on all of the rides between the hours 2pm and 6pm over and over again. However, the Mouse mini roller coaster ride is limited to two rides only. Unfortunately this is a negative. In terms of the workers, most of them are foreigners going to college here in the states, I had no problems with them probably because I have a great attitude. In fact, they look forward to seeing my daughter and myself almost every weekend. This amusement park offers a lot for young children or children under 10 years of age. The key is that the children can ride everything as many times they desire accept the mini roller coaster ride during the package deal. The downtown OC Jolly Roger offers even more fun rides but the negative sides is that they lack a package deal. (smile) More rides downtown but the cost per ride attomsphere gets a little expensive for my pockets. Its fun to do it every once in a while though. Four stars for this amusement park. Dont forget about the water park and the racing go cart park also.
The water park has a great variety of slides and wet ways to relax some for all ages -- Speedworld has a good number and types of tracks to race around -- pricing well its a little on high side -- we found that buying the wrist pass for speedworld didn't work out well because of the waits to get in a cart -- best bet is to find the specials run from time to time from the local business' -- as for the amusement rides well TIME FOR EXPANSION !!! MORE THRILL RIDES NEEDED PLEASE
While it's a little pricey, the 2 hour all-you-can ride go-carts at Jolly Roger Speedworld is a lot of fun. Especially for a group. Try to go on a somewhat less crowded night for the best value. I did this once and now I am addicted!
Their website has a coupon and also one of the free coupon books for Ocean City has a pretty good coupon, too. Remember: never hit the brakes!
I think that is was the fun of all besides the beach. There where no lines. If you like high rides they have everything and anything for all ages. Every year I can't wait to go back and see what the have new. They have the best rides. Everybody has fun there. It is worth it and every year it gets better and better.
This is our second year coming here w/ our son. The key is to get the package deal during the day in the amusement park section.
2-6 PM $14 all rides - otherwise the smallest package is $28 for a certain amt credits which goes really really fast since some rides are 4.5 points each and if you have a child - you know that once they find a favorite ride or attraction - they want to go on it a million times and the credits go very quickly.
The chance games are awesome- there is almost a prize ever time which is great for us parent (and our wallets).
Overall this is the best amusement place in OC for the price and family atmosphere. The staff is very friendly and the facility is very clean as well.
Would highly recommend the Jolly Roger.
First of all, the workers are lazy and rude. If you have a problem, they don't do anything to help you. Second, there are only a few rides for preteens/teens. The best ride (Wild Mouse)has a 2 ride limit. After you go on it twice, they will mark an X on your wristband so you can't go on again!!!! Where did you ever hear that you can only go on a ride twice? This place is a joke and I will never go back. Don't waste your time or money on this place. But if you do go, your best bet is the water park.
