I've mistakenly rented from them twice. In 2010 they rented me a boat that was sinking. I thought it was the plug, but was not. They could not fix it after having it all day. They gave me a pump and told me to pump it every 2 hours. They were non-apologetic and offered no refund.
Fast forward to 2012. They must've had the boat warm because it started right up. Apon getting it to my dock it had awful run-on. When I went to restart it, it was difficult. After getting it out on the lake it stalled and wouldn't start for 20min. After getting it restarted it wasn't an issue. I thought everything was fine and even wanted to extend by a day. I did not though due to impending weather. Boy I'm glad I didn't. The next day it did the same thing and I was stranded for half an hour. I asked for a replacement which they didn't have. I spent an hour of my own time to bring the boat up to have the carb adjusted. This didn't work as they next two days we had nothing but trouble.
The boat was returned 30 min late because of stalling issues. Instead of being apologetic and offering a refund, I was told I may be charged extra for being late!!. This is all true, They have lots of BS, so they may respond to this with more BS. Don't believe a word of it.
This post from Vienna, VA who chooses to stay anonymous, is not truthful! We know who he is because he is the only person in over 14 years to react in such a crazy manner when returning a rental boat.
This business has never offered on-line reservations. This 27 yr old did not rent the boat he is complaining about. It was his father in-law that signed the contracts and paid/accepted the boat in it's then current condition. This 27 yr old was not even present when the boat was picked up.
This 27 yr old did create a disturbance after using the boat ALL DAY, and returning it with propeller damage. And got very upset when they had to pay for the damage. (This is indicated in the rental contract.) If you damage a rental car, AVIS will charge you an additional fee for every day that car is out of service. We don't do that.
The motor was "unreliable" because they wrecked the propeller. In fact, All customers are required to inspect the propeller and boat before they leave the boat docks. If you need a radio or fish finder make sure it works before you return it 8 hours later!
No rental boat is perfect. There are dings because people don't treat them as well as they would treat their own personal boat. And seats get worn and moldy due to the ever present moisture of the lake. Over the winter, all our seats were re-upholstered.
We publish all of our rates on marketing materials and on our web site. We do not give discounts because the boat they preferred (faster or nicer looking) was not available for rent or was reserved by another customer. We have customers that reserve boats a year in advance.
Using auto rentals as an example, if you pay to rent a compact car you should not expect to drive off in a luxury class BMW just because you see one sitting on the lot. And if you damage it, pay to have it fixed. Harassing the employees or owner won't get you a discount.
If you have footage of a 67 year old senior punching a 27 year old please post it. Otherwise, please don't harass hard working people by trying to get something for nothing and then making up false stories on the internet.
