Loved the Experience
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 10/26/09
Took my wife on a "surprise date" last weekend (10/24-09) and was justly rewarded for my choice of entertainment and cuisine. Our overall experience was great. The buffets (salad and hot) were adequately stocked with quality items and plenty of them. Although the green beans could have been warmer, every other item was tasty and well served. Dessert was a mouth watering brownie topped with a large scoop of vanilla ice cream which really put a good ending to the meal. The theater portion of the night was a production of "Godspell" set in the break room of a large corporation. It was delightfully different than the original and performed magnificently by the ensemble cast. Anyone who has either seen the play or movie, will be quite entertained with this version. Overall, the new owners have a few kinks to work out on the decor and seating (A little rundown and a little crampy), but have a wonderful basis to build a great reputation on. My wife and I will be back for another good time!

New ownership, New start!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 10/01/09
I am SO impressed with the NEW Washington County Playhouse and the owners, the Czerbinskis! I just saw "Godspell"--the first show of the new season, and the talent, inside decor, food, service, even the program was polished and improved! I can't wait to go back and see their christmas show, "That Holiday Feeling!" For those of you unsatisfied with the Playhouse before, I strongly recommend you give this venue another shot! Support Live Theatre, and those who are striving to provide quality entertainment!

Good News for All!!!
By StormofCentury, 06/14/09
The Washington County Playhouse from what I have learned has switched ownership!!! I have been attending the Playhouse on and off for the past 15 years or so and the past few under the management of Miss Jenkins have had miserable performances, food, ect. I have heard that the business has been purchased by Loretta and Jeff Czerbinski, regulars of the playhouse stage, who are ready and eager to make some changes for the better life of the Playhouse stage. Knowing the new owners, I can assure all who read this that many things are going to change and I hope for the better. I would ask many people who read this or who may have been turned off by previous visits to give it a little bit of transition time and then go back and give it another shot. The last show that I saw was "My Fair Lady" and I thoroughly enjoyed it. I saw the performance close to closing which may explain why things didn't seem as wonky as others have stated. I would think it could be difficult for one person with little help from the producers to Direct, musically Direct and take a lead part in as well. Maybe prof. higgans should have stuck to one or two, but not take on the whole show himself. My wife and I will continue to attend the playhouse as often as possible to support the Arts, Live Theater and the people who love to perform.

Horrible, afraid of change
By Alexander, 04/06/09
I waited until my third terrible visit to write this review, I've found the place to be extremely drab, the food was awful, and despite painting the inside and removing duct tape from their bar it doesn't improve where needed. The main focus should be the food and show after all it's a dinner theater. The food is bland in taste, not well prepared, and always the same. The shows are the same way, same people, same directors, and same poor directing and choreography. While the talent seems to be present in a few of the performers it seems their talent is not utilized to it's fullest potential. It's seems this place's biggest problem is it's fear of change. There hasn't been a new director to the establishment since I first started attending, they're either current directors or old directors from the past but never someone brand new. The sets are never built to quality, and the advertisement for shows and auditions is extremely poor. The place is very obviously facing the possibility having to close down and it shows, but, what do you expect when a business fears change? If something you're doing isn't working, it's probably wise to try something new. I would not advise attending, it was a waste of time and money. Until this place learns to accept change or comes under new ownership it's highly unlikely it will be successful.

DONT GO! LISTEN TO THE REVIEWS!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 03/09/09
After doing the usual online research to scope out how good the experience is going to be I felt unsure about it. I wish someone would've written a good review to "stay away" and save your money. The food was disgusting and the facility was extremely run down. The health dept needs to take a trip down there. It said they had a good salad bar adn buffet. Unless you wanna go back to high school lunches that are set out on Fridays with left overs I wouldn't recommend eating anything! It was the most repulsive meal I've had in years. The service was less than adequate considering the actors and actresses did it. They should stick to one talent. My particular server was the actor who played Prof. Higgins in the production, along with no knowledge of the wine or drink list his demeanor was pompous and arrogant. Not that the night was getting any better with the play approaching, the time for dessert came and it was something else other than what was advertised on the menu. Please excuse the rambling nature of this review, I am only frustrated with the poor service, mediocre talent and general terrible experience I had. Please save your time and money and skip out on this trip. Not only was my bill wrong, and the bread stale and the wine cheap but the treatment was horrendous! I could go on and on but I would really like to put this dreadful experience behind me and my family. As for the production itself, the players possessed talent although not enough to endure over 2.5 hrs of it. PS I Love My Fair Lady! and am disgraced by this production

More Than Expected
By Southern Fried, 02/24/09
I always look online before I go somewhere I haven't been before. It's pretty obvious that some of the reviews about this place were written by people who like the place, and others by people with an axe to grind. I didn't know what to expect, but the wife said we were going, so we went. And I want to say I'm glad we did. It was the best local theater I ever saw. The food was good, there was plenty. And the musical, My Fair Lady was excellent. It was good singing, good acting, good dancing, and good laughs. Next time the wife says we're going, I won't raise a fuss. (Even though they didn't have my brand of beer!) My one little suggestion is that they clean up the lobby some.

The biggest waste of money ever
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 01/19/09
To start with, I have heard this place wasn't bad by people who's opinion I trust, but this show was terrible. We attended the opening night performance of My Fair Lady and the night started off well. The food was good, a little bland, but good, the service was great and we thought everything was going to be wonderful. Then the show started. At first I thought maybe I just didn't remember the show, but then my wife leaned over and wispered to me "The guy playing Higgins doesn't even know his lines. He's dreadful!" And that was the nicest thing I could say about the show. It just was not put together well and it showed in every scene. We kept hoping it would get better, but it just seemed to get worse the longer it went. I'm not sure who this Terry Moore person is, but if his lack of direction and inability to learn his lines is any indication, I would hope that he doesn't perform to often. Our recomendation would be to be sure that this person has nothing to do with a show before spending your hard earned money. As for the theater itself, our friend seemed surprised, saying all of their experiences have been great, but not one of them has ever heard of this man. I should hope the owners lose his number after this mess.

came a far way and really enjoyed it
By Naomi, 07/27/08
We came from 750 miles away (probably the farthest anyone has come ) because we love dinner theaters. I have seen shows on broadway, dinner theaters all over the country, and even played an off, off Broadway show myself - being a professional musician. The show at WCP was wonderful. The food was very good and plentiful. Since the venue is small there were virtually no lines at either of buffet tables. My children liked this. Our waitress was very nice and I was surprised to learn that she was one of the actors (the villaness). It would have been nice for coffee to be included in the regular price and also iced tea. The quality of performers was very high. We were hoping that the singers would have voices and they did. Annie Warbucks has some very challenging numbers and the performers met the task. The children also were good, with Annie having a big broadway voice (definitely needed for the show). I was surprised that the actors came out as waiters during intermission still in charactor. We really liked this. All in all it was a very nice evening. A couple of drawbacks. The theater is in the back of the building. My gps kept saying we were there and the front of the building had a for lease sign. This led to about ten minutes of confusion, but a parking lot attendant saved the day. Also I think the prices will go up $5 next year. I hope they don't price themselves right out of the market. The price is one thing that drew us there. We like to take our children to expose them to live theater. Also, being a musician I must say live music would be better than canned (which is what they have). They don't use mikes which concerned me at the beginning, but since they all had stong voices it was fine. I highly recommend this dinner theater.

Great evening of enjoyment
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 09/11/07
We attended "Shake Rattle and Roll" with our Corvette Club on a Mystery Cruise so we did not know where we were going or where we were to end up. It was truly a very entertaining evening and enjoyed by all. The narrator was truly a stitch and the cast truly worked their tails off on and off the stage. We won the trophy and picture of Elvis signed by the actors/actresses as they picked our Corvette and we just cherish it and looks so nice with all of our trophies....love that particular one though and the signatures are so nice to have. Thanks a million for a wonderful evening and we will definitely do it again! It was well worth the time and money.

Enjoyable experience
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 04/30/07
I recently came to see the current show at the playhouse and I was very impressed. The food was good. The atmosphere is quaint and very family-oriented. The staff is friendly, and the best part is that they are perform in the show themselves! The price is affordable-considering you could spend that much at either/or a restaurant of theatre. I hope to see the new faces in the show in larger roles! I really enjoyed Willard, Reverend Moore, the nerdy boys, and the "uh huh" girl. "Let's hear it for the boy" was also a showstopper! Thanks to the wonderful performers.
