Take a tour of Maine's largest cow's milk cheese facility and taste a wonderful array of specialty cheddar and Monterey Jack cheeses. All of the cheeses are made using only Maine mile and are free of any additives.

Freshly made cheese and other goodies

Fresh cheese, and if you're lucky, fresh curds! Cheese is made locally, many varieties to choose from. Can buy in bricks or even "seconds". Bring a cooler so you can take lots home with you to enjoy later. Maple syrup, homemade jelly and jam, interesting and yummy condiments, all Maine products. So much to choose from, why not try them all? Non-food items also available at reasonable prices. Great place to stop and sample Maine at its best.

State of Maine Cheese Co.

While on a bus trip to Bar Harbor we stopped at the State of Maine Cheese Co. and I found it to be a very nice local attraction. Both owners were on hand to greet us and then gave us a tour of how they made the cheese. Very nice and informative. There is a gift store in front to buy various made in Maine items plus of course Cheese. By the way the cheese was excellant. I'm sorry I didn't buy more when I got home. I will stop again when I take my next trip to Maine! If your near I recommend you stop by and pick up some cheese.
