Amazing!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 07/24/07
The bookshelf run by Mr. Peter Johnson, is an amazing view of a old mom and pop kind of store, in a world where the examples of which are getting harder and harder to find.

Something for everyone!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 07/04/06
The Bookshelf has an eclectic mix of hardcovers and paperbacks, old and not so old, as well as collectible and rare books. There is an extensive children's collection as well. You may roam the stacks to your heart's content. After your visit, check out the refreshing riverwalk behind the shop.

A Rarity

Maybe it's because most of the big chain bookstores haven't spread to Ellsworth yet. but there are still a few of that rara avis around: the small downtown independent bookstore. This is tucked in to a lovely block of buildings along the Union Riverside, next to a coffee shop and very close to the Library. So make aday of it! The owners are friendly, helpful and they let you browse. The selection includes old, out of print books, plain old used books, and odd things as well. Check it out!
