Griffin Fishing Charters, Lafitte

I called in late April to get information about the fishing in early May. I specifically let them (Her) know I wanted some Bull Reds and Speck trout. She said "No problem. Come on down and you will catch plenty." Made reservations and made the 11 hr. drive to get there. Then we (2 of us) met our assigned guide. he told us the Bull reds and the trout were not in the area. If lucky we may catch a few. The next morning we went out at about 6:00am and came in at 11:30. Caught our limit of small reds with the exception of one 28 incher. NO TROUT. Also were using only shrimp. The artificial bite was not on yet. Kind of boring. When the guide was lifting his boat from the water we found out that our day was over AT 1130???? Spent the rest of the day lounging around. Next day we had a repeat of the first day except a few of the fish were in the 20+ inch range. My advice? Ask to talk to a guide before you book a trip and get the real fishing report. The guide was great and the food was deliciuos and plentiful, but I wanted better fishing. I was MISLEAD!!!

We roll out of bed at 4:45 AM to make the 40-minute drive to Lafite, only to get there and have our appointed guide (Nick) tell us conditions (wind, tides, etc..) were such that the day would be all but unfishable. Despite having previously fished the area during the same time of year with another guide service who we limited out with, I took Nick's word and called it off. I won't make that mistake again. Few hours later, Nick's boss calls and tells me that our boat was the only one that didn't go out and that the other boats LIMITED out. To her credit, she offered us another trip at half price but I don't think we'll take her up on it. Amazing that during these times (hurricanes, BP, etc...), somebody in this industry had no interest in making some money. Probably just a case of one bad apple, but I'll probably stick with individuals rather than charter companies from now on.
