Excellent Tour
By ,
As someone whose family has a long Naval history, This was an excellent chance to see the kind of ship both my Father and Father-In-Law served on. Very comprehensive tour of the ship and a wonderful indoor Naval museum.

A Piece of History
By ,
Baton Rouge is not a military town and it's unusual to see a "fletcher class destroyer" sitting in the Mississippi River ready for you to tour. The ship is kept in pristine condition, with a lovely gift shop with educational historical videos for viewing. Sleepovers are encouraged for Boy Scout groups and other interested parties. Nearby are walls of honor with the names of deceased soldiers who died during the wars the USA fought.

A Must See
By ,
The USS Kidd was amazing. The day I went there were a few of thr crew members from WWII on board and they added to the experience by sharing stories of their experience. You are given a brochure that outlines a self-guided tour - VERY COOL. If you have to pick one thing to do while in Baton Rouge, this would be it.

Feels like you're in the Pacific in '45

Amazing attention to detail and dedication to getting it right make the Kidd a powerful experience. You can stand on the starboard deck and almost see the Zero coming in.

Every American Should Visit This Place
By ,
This great museum is a must-see for children and adults alike. It truly gives you a better appreciation of the sacrifices of our veterans for our freedom. You leave awe-inspired. The ship is meticuously restored; the only thing missing is the crew of sailors and the seasickness.

Must Go
By ,
This is an wounderful place for a family outing. It is really neat. I wouldn't recommend going when it is really hot because the ship gets really really hot but other than that it is a great place to visit.

What a great place
By ,
This is a great place. If you're in the Baton Rouge area you MUST go and see this. It has a great family atmosphere. The memorials are absolutely perfect and the ship is just magnificent. Sure the museum is cool and so is the submarine, but there is just something about the ship that will never leave your memory. Trust me, GO SEE THE USS KIDD!!
