Most people have heard of curling and maybe even watched it a little during the Winter Olympics. Now here is your chance to try your hand (and the rest of your person!) at this veritable game of chess on ice.
This is an extremely social sport that relies on both personal focus and team effort. The social aspect of this sport goes hand in hand with the etiquette. As with any sport, the competitive edge is present, but the need to enjoy the game and have fun playing trumps any unfriendly feelings against your opponents. Often a short-handed team will get help from a member of the opposing team to bridge a strength or skill gap.
This sport is the poster child for "sportsman-like conduct!"
Afterward, the players gather at a local bar and grill for some food and (adult) beverages, extending the social and friendly nature of the sport.
I hope to keep curling as long as I'm on this side of the ground. :)
