I love this little zoo in the middle of no where. It is no San Diego Zoo but if you are looking for a fun time with the kids or cute new date night local, this is it. There aren't too many animals and they are the usual, monkey, cheetah, bear, and lion but they have a fun little petting areas and peacocks running free on the property. I love this place!
What a wonderful place to take children and grand children; what a wonderful place to "get away from the rush of daily life"; what a great place to have in your town.
This is a place to bring people of all ages . A great place to bring older people who haven't been to a zoo in years.... make this an year round place to visit. Whether residents of Manhattan or visitors, the Sunset Zoo is a wonderful way to let the interkid out for a wonderful time.
This is a small zoo that is very well taken care of. Because of its size, don't expect things like giraffes and elephants, but it does have lots of animals in nice exhibits. I loved that you are extremely close to the animals. We walked thru a section where Wallabys were not in cages but actually were within a couple of feet away. The same with the beautiful Flamingo garden. If we had wanted, we could just reach out and touch one. They were absolutely beautiful. There were lots of baby animals including monkeys, wallabys and peacocks. Maybe it was because our expectations were low, but we loved this zoo!
If you have ever been to the Sedgwick County Zoo, don't bother coming to the Sunset Zoo. In a couple years though, it will be a lot better. They already have a lot of new exhibits. But nothing exciting yet.
