Beautiful Nature Center. Lots of educational and hands on things for the kids. Our kids loved it. The center has a nice sitting and viewing area....lots of large windows....and you can watch the birds. It was great. The hiking trails were great, with lots of cool little bridges.
The free Lewis & Clark Passport programs were fun and educational. Leaders were very knowledgeable, supplied unique interesting information and answered all our questions. We went at 10 am for the "Identify the Birds" program. After this program, we ate the picnic lunch that we had brought along and took a hike on well marked paths. The park is beautiful. At 1 pm we attended the "Remarkable Mother of Meriwether Lewis" program which included the examination of toys, kitchen utensils and clothing used in Lewis' era. Uses of the many items were explained and the items could be touched and examined. A "make it-take it" craft was included in both programs and leaders were dressed in period costumes.
Each participant was given a passport book which explained 11 passport events at various sites from Brownville, NE to Sioux City. Since we attended two events, we received two stamps in our books.
Parents and children can participate and everyone will learn. It is a great family program.
