Sergeant Floyd Monument, Sioux City

This like a Mini Washington Monument. It is visible from I-29 on the East side between exits 144 and 147. It isn't easily accessible from the interstate though. To get to, take I-29 exit 143 (not 144) to go east on Industrial Road, then take the left on S. Louis Blvd to go north for about 2 miles. It is more interesting if you read up before hand about Sergeant Floyd as well as how the landmark became a historical marker.

The monument itself was very cool looking. The views of the Missouri River and the Loess Hills, spectacular. I was trying to imagine, what it must have been like for all of the brave men on the journey, camping along the Missouri river. Beautiful, I am sure. We went late evening, before sunset....watching the sunset was truly amazing there. I would highly recommend it.

Awesome, But even better when you stop at the Sioux City Lewis and Clark interprive Center, too. There's enough picnic tables around there you can even have a bit of a picnic there, too.
