Can't wait to revisit this unique place
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 06/03/08
This Museum is unique in that it actually was a Homestead which was then used as the initial site for the Burlington Hospital beginning in 1895 and was used as such for three years before the Burlington Hospital was erected. The Museum therefore is both a beautiful historic home and also contains a fascinating history of medical and hospital care. I found the volunteers who hosted me to be lovely and enthusiastic about this treasure and would recommend it to all who visit Burlington and its many historic sites. It is at the top of Snake Alley, listed in Ripleys and has a great view of the city and the Mississippi in the background.

not worth the effort
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 01/04/08
I asked or rather, begged, the curators to accommodate a small, private, after-hours, tour in exchange for a sizeable donation while planning a brief stay in the wonderful town of Burlington. The curator was "less than eager". It was surprising to me. Being from a much larger city, I have always found in my travels someone associated with museums that is excited about sharing their knowledge. To be honest, and brutal, I think they were afraid they were going to miss their favorite episode of the Golden Girls.
