The reservoir is a great asset for the people of Delaware county. More people need to get out and enjoy all the great activities. It could definitely use better management, which should happen after November.
The campground for weekend campers is not well maintained and mowed. The was a lot of drunkenness and loud bad behavior in the campground in which we had to call the local police to come and stop it. We discussed it with the park personnel and were told the security was only on duty until 7pm. This bad behavior took place after 11pm until about 2:30am, I would be careful where you camp on the grounds on the weekend to avoid such a situation from arising if you have a family and and want a peaceful time. The lake was beautiful, however, but the bad camping experience overshadowed the good.
There is a lot to offer and it is fairly clean, for a reservoir. The problem they have is snakes, they are everywhere. We were standing on the large rocks edge of the water and counted 29 snakes, only standing on 3 of the rocks. We went into the woods, after 2 steps saw 3 baby snakes. Poisonious or not, this is not good for the family or anyone for that matter.
Nice small lake however conservation officers nit pick and ticket for anything possible. Speed limit on entire lake is 20 mph so you better keep it around 15 to avoid a ticket. Anyone wanting to tube or take their speed boat out should reconsider.
I like the res, I used to love the res. This year they took away the only place for people to park their pontoons, the beach. We no longer have a place to get out and cook lunch, let the kids play, just wade around. I understand why they had to do it, I am just wondering if they exhausted all possibilities first. This is not the most organized place. Try making camping reservations and you will find out what I mean. Horrible!! We will go back this year...I can't say for sure about next year. We have a boat dock there, might not be worth it anymore!
been riding here for 15 yrs. always a great time close to home.wish folks would pick up trash after themselves. know there's some fishermen who contribute to this also. come on folks that's what the barrels are for.
Went to detect the beach. When the security saw us they told us to leave. It was after hours and no one was there. So we threw the hooks we found on the beach down and left. We uaually just throw them away but figured we would leave it the same as we found it.
We spend most of the summer at the beach. It's very clean and very resonably priced!. My kid love that they have diving platforms in the shallow end and a diving board floating in the deep. The sand is very clean, not muddy like some lake beaches. I like that they allow you to take in picnic lunches.
