It reminded us of our Florida trip!
By ,
I used to go to the dunes when I was younger and I remember we went to Mt. Baldy once but the mountain of sand was much closer to the shore line back then so I can definitely see how its moving! I am happy they are trying to save it though!! We went yesterday for the first time in a very long time and my kids absolutely loved it! It reminded us a lot of the beach in Florida that we went to last year minus the palm trees of course!! The one and only thing I HATED was the clay or whatever that squishy slippery stuff was under the water that I was stepping on...This stuff covers the ground under the water for about the first 20-30 feet in...after that there are stone and sand though so once you get past the clay it is very nice! Another thing I wasn't a fan of was that you absolutely cannot see the bottom of the water but there ISNT seaweed or anything floating around like some of the other beaches in that area...Overall it is a great beach and a great time! We are already planning to go back within the next few days!!

Paradise!
By ,
This is the second year in a row my husband & I have taken our two kids here & it truly is a paradise! We really love it & it's only 2 hours from home! The one & only difference there is between this & a Florida beach is there are no palm trees. Beautiful & clean! We will definitely be going back for years to come!!!

Breathtakeing beauty
By ,
For a Project, Me and four other friends climbed to the sumit. Superiseingly, it only toke us about five minutes. It was fast and fun. The view from the top was, bluntly, Breathtakeing. We could see for miles, includeing the beautiful lake Michigan. Its really fun to feel the sand beneath our feet, and to take off our shoes :) . It Was cold, but It was still great. The best part was slideing down, we were COVERED in sand by the time we reached the car. I had a great time!!!!!

Mount Baldy is Moving!!!
By ,
News Flash--Indiana Dunes National Lakeshore has closed off the steep southern slope of Mt. Baldy with a fence. I understand that the closure should help preserve the dune. Those of us who have been climbing up and down the slope are hastening the dune's movement southward. But there is some GREAT news. A very nice, wooded trail west of the southern slope leads to the top. When I arrived at the submit today, the views were as beautiful as ever. Thanks, Indiana Dunes for taking steeps to preserve this dune for my grandchildren. --Anna Lee

Wonderful Trip
By ,
It was a wonderful trip. My boyfriend and I drove up from Indiana. The dunes are very relaxing to hike. There is a nice walking path up Mount Baldy. The beach has restroom facilities and a refreshment stand with Blue Moon ice cream. That would be our recommendation. Get a scoop of Blue Moon!

Indiana Sand Dunes
By ,
This is one of the most beautiful places in America. At night u can sit on the beach of Lake Michigan and stare across at Chicago, which looks like gems sticking out of the water. It will never leave your mind.

Two Steps Forward and One Step Back
By ,
I've been to Mt. Baldy three summers in a row, and it never gets old! It truly is like taking two steps forward and one step back when you're climbing up this huge sand dune, but that's part of the fun! ~We were just there in July, and we caught the most beautiful sunset from the top of the dune. It was breathtaking! You could even see the outline of Chicago on the horizon. I would recommend a trip to Mt. Baldy to those who love to walk barefoot in the sand. The beach is so amazing! Living in Illinois, you would never know that there were beaches so close! I live 3 hours and 15 minutes away, and we're planning a day trip very soon! ~Peggy
