If your from there you know to stay away!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 01/14/10
Or just keep your body out of the nasty water! The lake is so gross! It's a shame because I used to go as a little girl and it was very nice and well taken care of. Now it is in really bad shape. The beach is a mess, as for the fourwinds hotel??!!! Stay away! I used to work there and I know what goes on there! I ended up quitting when finding things out. It is an okay place to go fishing, but don't get in the water!

Fun in the Sun
By Curt, 09/12/05
Lake Monroe is the largest manmade lake in the state of Indiana. It has tons of wildlife, including the kind that comes down from the Bloomington campus. I personally enjoy the fishing though. Ive caught bass, walleye, and catfish out of here, as well as the persistant bluegill. I would tell you more, but a true fisherman never spills his best fishing holes.

Great fishing, camping, boating, and swimming. Awesome pic nic areas, and convenient location.

Great family fun
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 01/26/05
Considering that southern Indiana isn't known as a recreational mecca, Lake Monroe offers an unbelievable amount of fun... jet skis, sailing, swimming, fun in the sun, etc... and isn't uncomfortably crowded. Definitely check it out if you're ever in the area.

So Many Options...
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 09/13/04
Lake Monroe has a lot of great things to offer! There is a beach at Fairfax where you can swim, sunbathe, play beach volleyball... You can rent boats from FourWinds Marina... There are several places that are perfect for fishing! You can just go sit by the lake and relax. There are several places to camp (Paynetown, Hardin Ridge...) and the FourWinds Resort is a great hotel with really good food! There are endless things to do at the lake, which makes it a great place to spend your weekends!
