Pokagon State Park, Angola

the things i liked about pokagon is that the trails are nice, the patio rooms are cool because you dont have to go to a main door to go outside just walk out the door in your room,the lake is fun the beach is great time, we play volleyball all the time its very fun,the pool isn't the greatest but its ok they also have a hottub, the breakfast dinner is awsome the varieties are huge and it is so good, and the boats are fun to take out on the water for a good time. this is why i love going to pokagon every year.

My family and I stayed in one of the cabin suites at the Potawatomi Inn earlier this year. We were shocked when my son, who is 2, found used condom packages in the side table in the master bedroom. It was actually an entire box of condoms, some of them already opened and in a bag. Of course this was very disturbing for my wife and I and we wanted to leave immediately. We did decide to stay after we called room service to have the room cleaned again. The person cleaning our room was more then nice and told us the Inn manager would be talking with us in the morning and he would tell his immediate supervisor as well. This did not happen and as we checked out I asked to talk with the manager. The woman who was checking us out didn't say a word about our situation and only offered a $20 discount. I didn't even care about the money, I only wanted to now that this was reported to the manager so it doesn't happen to someone else. I never got the chance to speak with a manager that morning as we checked out and I have emailed the state park website. We still haven't been able to get in contact with the Inn manager. The rest of the Inn is pretty run down. The indoor pool needs some updating and the rooms need new furniture. The positive things were the restaurant was very good as the breakfast portions were huge. Also, the park itself is great, I have been there many times, but I wouldn't stay in the Inn ever again.

Not a good place to stay if you need internet access. Wireless internet is slowest I have encountered. I would hope that would be improved. Rooms, staff, and grounds were great. I would not go back unless internet access improved for business access.

Pokagon seemed like a great state park when i and my family arrived. We had asked for ajoining cabins but they gave us cabins that were back to back. we were disappointed at that. the the people nexted to us had done some hunting or something and left their killin the bathroom and came into our room. EWW. it was a poor trip.

use to camp here as a kid and been back once as a parent myself, going back this summer - we do live in Tennessee otherwise we would be back there more often, it was as much fun for me as an adult as it was when I was a child to see how much my kids liked it and enjoyed the trails. Will keep going back to enjoy a week with my brother and sister and their families.

My extended family has our annual Christmas gathering at the Potawatomi Inn at Pokagon State Park. The old section of the inn has a nice hunting lodge feel with a large fireplace and leather seating in a the large sitting room near the end of the toboggan run. The new section has meeting rooms, guest rooms and comfortable common areas that are ideal for family gatherings. Lake James is literally a stone's throw from the lodge and provides pretty views and atmosphere and boating in the summer. There are many nearby hiking trails and other attractions in the park for those who like to get outdoors. This is one of the very best places I have stayed over the years.

Pokagon Inn is a wonderful place for a "lost weekend". The Inn itself is a modern facility with beautiful and spacious rooms, a nice (public) indoor pool and hot tub, and delicious restaurants. Try the soups! The park is large, offering plenty of hiking and other activities in relaxing natural environment. It also features a truly unique feature in its quarter-mile long refrigerated sled run. Shooting down a ramp and flying along an icy run at 40mph is fun for almost any age. This state park isn't typically overrun with visitors yet offers a great place to "recharge your batteries". If you've never stayed here, you won't go wrong giving this place a try.

As a young man, Pokagon was only a 4 hour ride from the western suburbs of Chicago. I loved it, so clean, green & quiet. As I approach my retirement years here in Florida, I remember those beautiful trips to Angola. Thank you Indiana!

My wife enjoys looking for deer and there are plenty to see around dusk. The people you meet there are great and the staff is wonderful. We stay at Potawatami Inn and really like the free coffee. 4 years ago we met Volunteer Puppy Raisers for Canine Companions for Independence there and today we are raising our #3 puppy for CCI. This year we brought our current 10 month old CCI Puppy Fontana. Pets are not allowed at the Inn however we were welcomed as they do allow service dogs and service dogs in training. Management informed the staff that we were coming and Fontana was treated very well by the staff and guests.

Starlight night skies on a deck with a bon fire... Spa and Whirlpool tub... lots of rooms to lounge with a buffet like home cooking. It's all there and at an affordable price.
