JMK Nippon, Rockford

Of all my life of going there I think it is just a great place to go and hang with friends! the is just wonderful and I love the way they cook right in front of us its just entertaining. The cafe pretty cool side to.

There are some secrets to eating at JMK. There is always something for everyone. I have been a patron for almost 15 years. I'm not a huge fan of leaving the place with cooking smells attached to my clothes, but they give a great option with the cafe. You can get the teppan food at the cafe, and the cafe has many other options. Or if you're in a hurry and don't want the entertainment value, go to the cafe. My favorite is the Pepper Tataki. And they have 25% off on lunch time items. The people who normally "dislike" JMK...I've taken them to the cafe and are now addicts. So keep an open mind to dining there. As frequently as I go there, I've never had a bad meal. The owners are great and the service is friendly. It's a nice local feel. No place is perfect, but they're pretty darned close. I will never eat a chain place as long as this restaurant is around.

The food is magnificent along with the environment and the chefs. The service could be greatly improved. If your looking for a nice romantic dinner or a reasonably priced lunch JMK is the place to go.

the atmosphere is amazing, and I cannot say enough good about the food! Just plain awesome!!!! Unique experience all the way around. Great for larger groups, too.

The food here is fine, in many ways basic. It's cooked in front of you in an abundant supply of cooking oil. There is one overwhelming problem with JMK's. The extraction of the cooking odour is a complete failure. I don't mean that it smells a little...when you leave your clothes and nostrils will feel like you have just finished a week long apprentice at McDonalds. It is quite simply disgusting. You will have to dry clean your clothes if you go on Saturday night when all the tables are going.

My favorite place to dine. Excellent food, excellent service, and a fantastic atmosphere! Evenings are the best time to go, but make sure to have reservations. Especially on weekends or holidays.

There is absolutely no "dislike" about JMK Nippons. The service is excellant and the food is wonderful. The Mai Tai's are authentic and the atmosphere is wonderful. Try it yourself!

I love JMK so much! The ambiance is fantastic and the food is suberb. Not only are you getting dinner but also a show. I highly reccommend this restaurant to everyone!

It was a lot of fun, if you are going with more than 2 people make reservations it is insanely busy! Eat something before you come because they really dont give you very much food for the price.... but the show they put on (if you get a good cook) is totally worth the price you are paying. We just happened to not get a very good cook, meaning that he didn't know how to do all the neat tricks but we were close enough to look in on another table. For tipping we were told by another couple to tip the cook and the waitress. Also if you have a shellfish allergy you MUST let them know and get the menu for the deli so your food is cooked separate not in front of you which means you are watching everyone else show not your food getting cooked. All In all we want to go again because it was fun. But if you are looking for a place to get "full" this may not be it. Oh ya the Dumplings were AMAZING

I live about 5 minutes away from JMK, but it is ALWAYS a treat to go. The food is unlike any other place in Rockford. The service is quick and friendly and the atmosphere adds to the whole expierience! If you live in Rockford, or are just passing through, make a stop to JMK!
