Dolphin Discoveries, Kailua Kona

Not as professional as their competitors (boat had no company markings, hardly any signage), but, with a discount from online, they were worth it. There were only 5 of us on the boat, and they got us to the snorkel site before the other boats (and the crowd).

I liked the small groups and small boats. The company is owned by a husgand and wife who also have excellent guides for the trips which they do not lead themselves. I found their knowledge of the island and the sealife good. The trips were interesting and just energitic enough to make you feel good not over worked. It was great fun! I have gone on other cruises, but have gone back to them repeatedly when I visit the Big Island each year.

I've gone out with Dolphin Discoveries twice. The first time was in 2004, when I chartered 2 boats for a corporate event. The service and the experience was phenomenal, which is why I decided to go out with them again in 2007 when I was visiting the Big Island for pleasure, just my boyfriend and me. This time the service was cold, and the experience itself was not the same because they only drove us out to a single bay. When I went out with them in 2004 we went to multiple bays and swam with turtles, which was missing from my 2nd experience. I left with the impression that I was treated differently in 2007 because of the number of customers I brought...in other words, money is what matters.

By far the best activity we did and worth every penny! We took the a.m. snorkel. Guides were eco-sensitive, energetic and very personable. We were given info about what they had seen in the past and what we were seeing on our excursion. Very kid friendly. Our 8 year old daughter snorkeled with us but they also had the boogie boards with the hole in the center for kids who were not comfortable with just snorkel gear. When we headed out we saw two sets of mother and baby humpback whales right away! On our way to our second snorkel sight we caught sight of a GIANT manta ray who circled the boat for us! So cool! We then swam with the sea turtles. They take you to the best areas. No dolphins but that's okay, the trip was filled with many other awesome creatures of the sea. Along the way we stopped at some historical sights. Really, really great experience! Highly recommend!

The people where nice, and told you all about the dolphins, what kind they where, where they usually school. I Felt Like I Was In Another World, The Dolphins Rode The Waves Coming From The Boat They Where So Close And So Wild.

Dolphin Discoveries is awesome! It was definitely one of the most fun things we did while we were on the Big Island. Very pleasant and knowledgable guides who made the day a lot of fun. Some of the best snorkeling in the world is right along the Kona Coast and it is well worth it to have Dolphin Discoveries introduce you to it!
