Nice little drive - Park is best
By Laura, 9/27/07
This is a briefly amusing drive among tall banyan trees labelled with the names of famous visitors who "planted" them. The drive is fairly dull, but the park at the end of the drive, with the bamboo forest, moon bridge, rock gardens, etc. is totally worth a stroll around - get out of the car and walk!

Lovely Place, don't miss it.
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 4/20/06
Wonderful Banyan trees, planted by famous and not so famous people of the 1920's and 1930's, such as Babe Ruth, Bobby Jones. Oceanfront and borders a beautiful park. Picnic, fishing, swimming at Coconut Island, great walks, near Hilo, main hotels, and airport. Cruise ships enter and depart Hilo nearby.

Historic - if you walk it
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 4/15/06
Okay, so it really is just a street with very large Banyan trees - the cool factor is the trees were planted by the famous (and for Senator Richard Nixon the infamous) back in the forties and fifties. Each tree has the person's name and year it was planted. Find the tree planted by Babe Ruth! This street leads to a very nice park and borders the property of three of the hotels in Hilo that offer the best views of the ocean and coastline. There is a nice Japanese restaurant at the north end of the street to eat at. Coconut island is also there - small but quaint.

Well, it was free...
By Kristen F, 1/15/06
I wasn't really impressed... the trees are nice, but I wouldn't drive out of my way to see it. Parking can be a problem in the area, too.
