CJs is a really cool place to kick back with your friends, get a good drink, have some laughs and get down on the pool table. I'm not a drinker or a pool player myself yet I enjoy the time that I spend a CJs! The customer service varies with the servers but there are a few waitresses that are GREAT at their jobs. Shout out to Aliya and Ashley. Over all if you don't want to be around the younger crowd and you just want to kick back and relax then this is the place for you. And lets not forget the many flat screens and the big screen projector on game days/nights. I'm definitely a fan of CJs.
As a native, I remember times when this bar used to be quite popular. I was surprised when I returned from being gone for so long to find the place as empty as it was. Upon tring to recieve my first drink and recieving less than cordial service from the barkeep I found the reason why there was no line backed up with eager patrons on my arrival. I was very disappointed, as this was once one of my favorite bars. I hope to have a better experience next time.
In my opinion, CJ's Pub and Pool is the prototype for all pool joints. The owner (who will remain nameless) is your typical Valdosta native. Crabby middle-aged guy who isn't there all that much unless it's to collect his money from the staff. As for the food, it is actually better than most pool halls, unfortunately it is slightly more expensive as well. It's DEAD during the daytime (except gamedays),and picks up significantly during the night. The best thing that CJ's has going for it is it's all-but Monopoly over the Valdosta pool scene...if you wanna play some pool...CJ's is pretty much all ya' got buddy! Overall, this is a great place to kick back with your friends, but you have to order SOMETHING or else you will be booted out (makes sense). There is an EXTREMELY HIGH employee turnover rate at this place (I know, I used to work there), so chances are if you need to make some short term cash...they'll have a job 4 ya...just don't expect to make it a month!! The college students tend to flock to the "nookie bars" like Bungalows or Louisiana's, but a good number do make it through CJ's doors as well. In closing, if you are ever in "Valdiddy", stop by CJ's and give it a shot! Chances are you'll return someday!
