Used by the railroad until 1978, this National Register Historic Site now houses an upscale restaurant and lounge and visitors can see the original beginning point for surveying the city of Dalton while in the lobby.
People that think The Depot is good food, obviously have never been to a nice restaurant. I've been a number of times over the years. We decided to grab a quick lunch there one afternoon to see if it had gotten any better. Well, it hasn't. The food is absolutely awful (if they have what you want to order in stock).
Nothing is fresh, not even a salad, it tasted like it came from one of those mixed pre packaged bags you get at a supermarket, that's all wilted and ready to go bad. Everything still tastes like frozen food heated up. I can't believe people think this place is good food. The wait staff is absolutely the worse still. We were there when it wasn't busy but our water glasses stayed empty the entire time we were there after drinking our first glass.
Avoid this place, you'd be better off going to a Longhorn's or heck even Applebees.
I have been going to the Dalton Depot for years now. The food is great (most of the time). The only problem is a bartended (oriental) named Nikki. If she is there, forget about good service. The rest of the staff is excellent. Prices are very reasonable. They have just spent a lot of money renovating the bar. New HD televisions (plenty)make the atmosphere better than ever. Poker on Sunday, Monday, and Wednesday nights for more fun. If your in the area, stop by!
long story short car broke down in dalton georgi on our way to atlanta for a braves game all the way from indiana and this is where we ended up. for such a bad situation the depot as we called it was not a bad lace at all. friendly people and made our being stranded in the smallest of towns not so bad, except appaerntly the town closes at 11 on random wednesdays...
THE FOOD WAS AMAZING AND WASN'T VERY EXPENSIVE. THEY ALSO HAVE A GREAT BAR TO HANG OUT IN. GREAT SERVICE AND VERY NICE WAITRESS'S. THE BEST TIME TO GO IS WHEN YOU WANT TO HANG OUT W/FRIENDS AND HAVE A GOOD TIME. THE BAR DOESNT CLOSE TO 2AM AND ALL THE PEOPLE WHO WORK THERE ARE AMAZING.THE ONLY THING I HAVE TO SAY NOW IS ITS #1 IN DALTON GA.
if you want to be treated like a un-important customer or like everybody around you is better than you this is your place, but if you want the full belittling expirence ask for a manager the saying the customer is right, well someone should tell them.this is the worst place to visit in dalton mcdonalds would be a better waste of time and the food isnt worth the very high price a 6oz fillet 21.00 and its in small chunks not even a whole steak .good luck
There is only one thing that I don't like about the Depot-leaving at night! I work there and for the past 7 months I have had more fun than I have ever had in my entire life! I am the only teen I know that can't stand to NOT work! I live for my nights at the Depot and I invite everyone to come to the Depot. Great food, great prices, and premium service to bring you, the customer, the best experience one can acquire at the Depot. Please, if you're ever in Dalton or anywhere close, drop by the restaurant or bar. You won't regret the experience and friends you will make.
Service is the main issue at "The Depot" It is not consistent - some days slow, others very fast. Prices are a bit on the upper end for a small town, but the food quality, decor and cleanliness are very much a drawing factor. Nice place for business meetings; call ahead if you will have more than five people. Very nice banquet rooms along side the tracks (the trains still get within a few feet of the old platform, which is now the banquet area).
