Skate-A-Round USA, Athens

So me and a friend went to skate around on May 20th of 2011. We were having fun and lots of kids were skating having a good time. We meet up with my friends girl friend and she brought a friend. While me and my friends girlfriend's friend are skating my friend calls me and says we have to leave. I said why? He was sitting with his girlfriend when 3 boys about 17-18 come up and start fasely accusing him of looking at their girls. (little bit of background) The owners or employees have been screaming over the speakers saying "If u dont have skates and ur not skating you HAVE to leave" Made no sense since people payed to get into the skate in. Back to my story, so my friend tells me he was cornered and was threatened to "get his ass beat" and two of the boys pull out shanks, (home made knifes). My friend gets away and go and complains to the manager. The manager, believe it or not, took the shanks and let this kids go on their way skating. They were kicking parents and young kids out for not skating but when it comes to life threatining situations they just let them go. Total bull crap. We left with the fear of danger and fear for our lives. But supposidly there is a new manager and new staff that are fixing up the place and making it a safe and family friendly area. So dont knock it before you try it. I havent been there since this incident but i will pay a visit there soon to make sure its safe for me and my friends.

It's finally under new management! The rude lady, her racist husband and her mean kids are finally gone! I met and had an indepth conversation with the new manager. He is young, energetic and driven to restore the place to its full glory! And he has an extensive background in education and customer service. Justin (the manager) has already began the transformation of the business. They still offer the lowest prices around and it's much cleaner. The Health Department gave them a 95A. If you haven't been by to skate lately, I suggest you take the time to drop in and meet Justin and his wonderful staff. They have a website and a Facebook page. It's worth it!

I droped my 13 & 14 year old kids at skate a round usa.i went home to change after work(i live 10 min. away).i get home change and my daughter calls and says,"dad theres a tornado coming so there closing the skating ring"i told her to stay rite there and i was on my way.she said "they made us leave the building and locked the doors".i told her to run to the store across the street .on my way there the weather was bad. trees blown over,power lines down,winds so strong my car was blown side to side.by gods grace they where fine when i arived . i was horified at what had happened.there may not be any laws agenst this but there should be . skate around usa clames to be family and kid friendly but i will never trust them again. this is a true story.

Family run, my husband used to skate there when he was young. We go on Tuesday nights. It costs $6 for my husband and daughters to skate. We also get snacks and drinks while we are there, one time we ordered a whole pizza and still came out under $20 for the whole trip. There are no sinks in the bathrooms. We take hand wipes and sanitizer to clean our hands with before we eat or after using the bathroom. I've seen others complain on here about the bathrooms, they are clean. Older buildings have a tendency to not look clean even if that have just been scrubbed and you can't expect an old building to look brand new. I haven't seen any rough or indecent behavior while I've been there on Tuesday nights. Overall it is a good place for a family to go and have fun.

I love skating around u.sa . It's a fun place for parties and just to get toghter with friends and family. The poeple that work there are so sweet and nice to me and all the kids. I love skating around u.s.a and always will and the price is really good to :) ~~~ Angel Cochran.~~~~

I can't believe that place is still there! When I was growing up I use to go skating there. There was not much to do in Athens so that was the place to go on Friday and Saturdays. Do they still hold "Lock-ins". I skated there from 1989-2000. I don't know if David still owns the place or not though, I still have my vapor lite hard candies to believe it our not and they still fit. I have though of going back there and stake again to bring back the memories of my childhood. But I am almost 30 now and I don't know if i can skate like I use too. Anybody remember how they use to bounce skate back in the day? I work there as Dj and handed out rental skates for awhile when I was in High School. I wonder if any of my old buddies still go skating out there. I hope that the skating rink stays around for along time. Who knows, if it is around long enough i will strap up and get on the rink floor when I am 80! Cheers everyone!

the skating rink is so much fun if your friends are there with you and even if you dont have friends with you its still alot of fun and the people that work there night not look the bes;t but there still nice. the only thing i dont like about it are the bathrooms:( But besides that the place is so fun and its actually cheaper then most of the other things out there!!! FUN!!!!

The place is very run down and the owners let their children run around wild and hit other customers. The owners are very rude and have no respect for their customers. Please do not try to eat or touch anything in the place you might catch something. Everything looks very unsanitary and I would not suggest going here.

I go here every Firday and Saturday. Yes the place is run down but if they could they would renovate it, but unfortuantly money is tight. The employes are great and yes there is drama but anybody who starts trouble is thrown out. If you actually look at it most places are like this. You should judge the place for yourself not for what other people think of it there are great skaters here to you should check them out i think one of them is James he sually skates out here in the middle of the floor Friday and Saturday nights. I grew up going to this place and i had a blast everytime. it was my life to get home from school on a friday night and go and hang with my friends at skate-a-round USA. yea they may not be wrapped in a pretty box with a bow on it but i have to admit we'd have so much fun!
