Alfred B. Maclay State Gardens, Tallahassee

The Gardens are a wonderful display of native and ornamental plants year round. The staff are knowledgeable and courteous. Bring a kayak for a quiet paddle on Lake Hall or bring a family reunion to the picnic area. The Lake Overstreet trails provide a gentle woodland hike.

The visit to Maclay Gardens was a wonderful way to spend a morning, so peaceful and gorgeous. The garden incorporates Florida's native plants with exotic botanicals to create a serene environment and can be seen within two hours at a leisurely pace.

Maclay Gardens is an excellent place to visit if you want to get lost in nature for awhile. They have a trail where you can jog, walk, or ride your bike. The flowers in the Spring/Summer are amazing. The price is only about $3.00 to get in, I believe. That's cheaper than going to see a movie, you can get a tan and soak up some Vitamin D, and enjoy beautiful scenery. It is also an excellent place for a function. They have facilities. I have a friend who is getting married there next spring when all the flowers are in bloom. I highly recommend it.

Worth a day trip to enjoy the garden when it is blooming. We went in February when the camellias were showing themselves and spent 4 hours walking and looking at the blooms. It is a well kept garden and quiet. You can truly enjoy nature. Can't wait to see the azaleas blooming! The park rangers are very pleasant.
