i love being around horses myself,so,added to that,i learned alot about st.augustine while i visited; now i feel very educated.:)

I have taken a carriage ride every trip to St. Augustine. Wether I ride with my husband alone, both of us with the kids, or with the girl friends on a girls weekend, it is the most enjoyable part of the visit. It's a great ride to take in the evening after dinner. I hear new stories every ride.

My family has taken a couple of carriage rides from Avalon in St. Augustine. Evening rides are better than day rides (cooler, less traffic, slower paced). We always get a group together ahead of time and get a group discount and use coupons from mapbooks or flyers in the visitors center (it's a little pricey). Your own group is much better than sharing a carriage with strangers unless you like that kind of thing. The ride is not super long 30 to 45 minutes and the best time to go is christmas holidays when all the lights are up. If you have the extra cash to take a ride then do it but I wouldn't go out of my way to find the money to do it, there are a lot of other types of tours cheaper and funner.
