St. Augustine Alligator Farm Zoological Park
All 23 species of the world's crocodilians, including rare white alligators, are located at this zoological and alligator farm that also is home to many exotic and endangered animals. Alligator feedings are held twice daily and there are entertaining shows held every hour.
My husband and kids visited the St. Augustine Alligator Farm about a 2 weeks ago and we were very disappointed. Besides a bunch of different species of alligators there wasn't much to see there. The feeding shows were almost interesting, but the alligators didn't appear to be hungry for either of them. I talked to one of the zoo keepers after the show and was informed that the alligators rarely eat and do not need a lot of food.... then why have a feeding show if the alligators won't eat?!? We had a 7 day vacation in St. Augustine and 1 of them was wasted on the Alligator Farm
The kids enjoyed the it when we went. The only bad thing about it was that it was a very hot day when we ended up going and we could not find too many places to cool down and most of the interesting exhibts were out in the sunshine and the heat. The food and gift shop were a little on the pricey side, but something the kids enjoyed while we were on vacation. Don't know if I could afford it every trip, but a good one time visit at least.
While it was a bit expensive, we really enjoyed the park. The keepers are professional and there was plenty to see. The animals are a bit sluggish during down time, but the girl that fed them while we were there gave a lot of good information and got some of them to move around and do "tricks." We will return next time we're in town.
We have always loved this park. Great to watch birds, when they are on nest. The place has a walk in the park feel you can just enjoy the place by seating and listing to the sounds of the park. I don't think that post about the alligator getting the baby is true at all, we never heard that story. I'm sure the nation would have heard about that if if were true. No way that could happen the park is safe. Just GO see for yourself.
My son is 2 and he had so much fun here. My husband and I had fun here. They had many different animals. In certain parts of the park there was a foul smell but that is to be expected when you're walking above a swamp. The price was a little high, but I think it was worth it because my son had so much fun. They even have a little playground in the back of the park for you to sit down and relax while your kids play.
Beautiful birds, amazing alligators and crocadiles. Better than the zoo! Had a chance to see the crocadiles get fed and take pictures up close and personal with the most beautiful birds. The white alligators were awesome!
i loved everything about this place. Can't think of one single thing that I didn't like! You won't be disappointed!! I grew up in FL and have seen hundreds of gators but this is the ultimate gator experience.
We are locals, but went there for the first time yesterday. It rocks! Could not be nicer. An amazing number and variety of crocks and gators. There is a gator area of maybe 5 acres with hundred and hundreds of gators, one after another. There are amazing birds and some apes, although no chimps or gorillas. The zip line/adventure park above looked great, but was fully booked. We will be back fairly often. Dreaded going, but absolutely thrilled.
My family was bored. It was expensive and there was not much to see. We stayed less than 1hr. The show was very short had 3 or 4 animals. There were lots of gators but unless you are there at feeding time not much to see.
This place is awesome. We had some much fun. Lots of animals to see. Great shows. We held some of the baby gators. The kids loved it!! My husband got in the pit with the big gators. $50 to get in the pit, but well worth it if you want to be close and touch and feed the big gators!! We had an absolute wonderful time! Great time for all ages!!! If you visit St. Augustine, you'll be sorry if you don't go to the Alligator Farm.
