We had a great time visiting a Sunday morning HE service! Beautiful music and singing; very worshipful atmosphere: the building and the liturgy matched the music. The rector and the people were very friendly and welcoming. We would (and have) recommended this parish as a terrific place to worship and make friends, for anyone who is looking for a church community to become a part of. Evidently, the previous reviewer was not looking for this. To view a historic and active parish as a "venue" to hold a party is insulting to the present congregation and to those earlier parishioners who put money and effort into building this lovely place of worship! My own church and rector will not allow people who aren't parishioners to "rent" the facility. We welcome AA and other non-profit groups to use our hall freely, as long as they show respect for our Christian traditions and mission purpose. Maybe the previous reviewer could consider their downpayment as a contribution to the ongoing work of the church; after all, it is tax-deductible!
I had booked the hall for a reception. I was not notified of the hall rules when I signed the contract and gave a year's notice of cancellation since cash bar was not an option. I was told by an "agent" I would get a FULL refund. Called to find out why I had not received the full refund and the pastor denied it. There are other venues in the area that are more competitively priced and happy to have your business.
The staff (volunteer or not) is unprofessional and extremely unorganized. I DO NOT recommend this facility for events. There are several other venues in downtown. You will be extremely unhappy with the communication, professionalism, and time structure the event staff functions with.
Hello, we were in St. Augustine last week and our son had told us to be sure to visit your Church. We met a lady in the parking lot that was saving places for a wedding party. She was busy but was nice enough to show us the Church and tell us the history. Since we are Catholic, we were surprised how much alike the two Church's are. My son also was empressed with everything and really liked the statue in the yard. I would like to buy him a poster,8x10 that he saw in your gift shop. We bought him a poster but it wasn't like the one in the garden. Do you have any of those posters and if so, could you mail it to us if I send you a check ? Please let me know if this is possible. Thank the lady that showed us around, she told us she is always doing things for the Church and we really liked her and appricated all she did for us.
