Ghost Tours of St. Augustine
Voted the number one guided tour in Florida, these licensed, professional guided in period dress light your way with lanterns through the ancient streets of St. Augustine during this one and a half hour walking tour where you will hear strange and unusual tales of centuries past, legendary stories, folk lore, and ghostly experiences.
My husband and I enjoyed this tour. We had a good tour guide - Andy. He seemed to enjoy his work and told interesting stories with history also. I thought it was a lot of walking though and not enough places shown. I've been on a ghost walk in Charleston, SC and it was better. Regardless, this one was kind of scary and we learned a lot. I'd recommend this one. Ask for Andy.
A ghost tour is a must when traveling to towns like this. There are literally tons of ghost tours in St Augustine, so check them all out and find the best deal. Some hotels throw them in for free. They are fun, silly, cheesy and great entertainment on a clear, dark night.
Our tour had too many people in it. My son is hearing impaired. We asked in advance of purchasing tickets if he could be put with a host who would speak loud and who would place my son in the front. My son reads lips well. The host we were put with did not speak loud, and most times spoke not facing my son at all. He seemed to be just going through the motion, and was not very expressive. Maybe if we had been with a different host or hostess we would have enjoyed it more. We saw another host taking a group, and he seemed very interesting.
St. Augustine is a city full of remarkable history. It is also known to be quite haunted.
You'd think a "Ghost Tour Guide" would be familiar with both the history of the city and the paranormal.
I realize this was a storytelling tour and that's just what I got STORIES!!! None of which were pertinant to the city or history.
This young lady compared ghost to" wearing a belt to tightly", "when you take it off it leaves a mark on your flesh." She was wearing a historical costume that seemed totally out of place considering she used many modern references and teenage " hip talk".
I have in the past, many occasions brought guest on this tour.
It seems like things have changed for the wort with this company.
It was take the money and run! Where are the Guides of the past?
Next time I'll visit one of the other companies in St. Augustine!
I liked the main host was friendly, staff very respectful, ride comfortable.
Did not like it was lame, just a bunch of story telling, which after a while was the same deal, different scenario. Expected more sites, not a lame ride across town, and a visit to a public park near the lighthouse that I could have done myself and save 80 dollars.
At the jail house no opportunity to take pictures, some guy saying lame stories about the hangings, bored as hell. To make it worst, there were wax figures inside the jail killing the paranormal vibe right away.
No visits to any cemetaries or ghost houses.
Save yourself some money, just go by yourself to the cemetaries with a flash camera and to the lighthouse, and get some candles...
To get to the walking part, we were taken past the bay and told of the pirates, when I looked at my pictures, two of the lights in the bay were not reflected in the water. My wife had stanges lights in almost every picture she took.
