I remeber when we used to sit in the ankle deep water to eat at this quaint little hole in the wall that only the locals knew about. Over the years he added a deck outside, hugemungus dock and at one time just a few summers ago even the Alligator still hung out. Do you remeber the old lunch trays you used to get in school, I mean in the 70's, well that is what your food is served on with a complimentary roll of quality paper towels. I love this place as it brings home some good 'ol florida cookin and livin on the water. The food, it don't get no better. The owner still walks around though these years he used to do this seasonal but now he's here all the time. We love ya and love your restaurant as this hole in the wall has turned into a first class watering hole / fine eatery, over the years and I wanted to extend my gratitude for a job well done. See ya Friday night Feb, 9th 2007.
Well my boat broke down but that's not you'r falt still had a great time. I was brought there by some friends and had heard a lot about it,talk is cheep we had a great time and will be back soon (as the boat gets fixed) if you have to break down this is the place to do it.
I love the fact that you can sit outside or inside in a beautiful, natural environment and eat fresh blue crabs with the fixings. The prices are very reasonable for what you get. The fried catfish and gator tail are great too. The river creek is peaceful and they have a great boat docking area. It seems like a nice family place--clean bathrooms. Very informal but professional. I will definately be back again and again.
We tried the big sampler platters and were all disgusted by the nasty, greasy pieces of what they called gator meat. Elsewhere you get white gator meat chunks that are deelish-not at this place. Balance of meal was mostly left untouched. Service was less than fair and no fountain sodas - cans only (premium priced). Also, back doors are left wide open, no screens - so got eaten up by mosquitoes. We'll never go back.
Party of 5
Good seafood place; very informal; My wife and I visited mid-afternoon so we could also take in a touch of the St John's river and the boardwalk along it. The "half platter" of fried seafood was more than enough for the two of us, in fact it could have fed a family of 4!
I've lived in Florida all my life, and even worked at a different creekside seafood restaurant. This place is great. I've never gone there and had bad service or food. The 1/2 boiled platter feeds me, my wife and my 5yr old daughter (who loves to suck the juice out of the crawfish heads!) Waitresses are pretty Southern Belles too! When it gets packed parking runs out, but no fear you can park at the gas station 1/4 mile down the road and catch a shuttle for free! Definitely worth your while.
