A1A Ale Works
Specializing in serving excellent New World cuisine such as fresh grilled seafood with a Latin and Caribbean flair, this restaurant and brewery also offers an interesting selection of fresh brewed ales and lagers which are produced on site. They are open daily for lunch and dinner.
Who knew a grilled chicken sandwich (I ate only the chicken--didn't touch the fries or sauce) could create so much gas? It was a bit rubbery, but I never expected so much wind. How do they do that? Also, the waiter said she'd prepare separate checks, but didn't. Typically annoying Gordon Biersch experience; had I known it was part of that chain I never would've gone.
I recently visited St. Augustine and ate lunch at A1A Aleworks. Let me start off by saying their cheese soup is to die for. I would recommend anyone going to St. Augustine to stop by for a cup of the cheese soup and a beer. I tried the Summer Wheat. It was perfect. I also tried the light ale, which also was great. The seafood sandwiches are also good. This is a "must do" for St. Augustine.
I've been to the place only once so this is my only impression of the brewery. The place is pretty decent, but the food is a little over priced for a brewery. They offer an average selction of beers. Try the sampler to decide for yourself which one you like the best. The waitres we had was good and efficient. I will try them again next time.
This place was great!! New Orleans style building. Second floor wrap around balcony dining. We had the Crab Fondue for appetizer and it was simply delicious. We were there for lunch and just had sandwiches but their menu was extensive. I had a blackened Mahi sandwich and it was very tasty and cooked to perfection. Wife had a crab sandwich and it was a little disappointing in that it turned out to be a cold crab salad sandwich with not much flavor. Poor choice on our part. This place was recommended to us by a friend who once lived in the area. Overall we agree with him and find it to be a great place with great food for a reasonable price.
we live on the opposite coast of fl. we never have visited st.augustine.we came across a1a ale works by mistake, looking for a place to eat that was not a tourist money trap, like other places we had eaten at the following day. you get what you pay for and then some.the food is the best, esp. the seafood.ihave never tasted any thing like it. it was a sea food pasta dish with jamaician seasoning. i would recomend it and the reasturant to anyone.this reasturant should be #1 in my book and i am very picky on quality and quantity. not to mention they make their oun beer which is also very good, but thats another story.
The view from the patio was less than perfect due to contruction but the breeze was nice, and the service excellent.
Get ready for some interesting flavors! The Beer sampler is a great way to enjoy the different ales and beers. Heck, it was so good, we ended up ordering two.
we discovered the a1a by chance while walking around town, went in had a great experience. My wife had the shrimp , I had the southwestern chicken both meals were excellent . The on site brewery has a really great amber dark beer , service was very good with a young fellow who was very attendent . all in all a very nice discovery and we lok forwarding to going back .
