Golden Apple Dinner Theatre, Sarasota

Play was a riot (Viagara Falls) ... very funny and very professionally done ... food was very good and moderately priced so overall value for money was excellent ... we drove 1 3/4 hrs from Orlando but will definitely go back again ...

While not Broadway or Vegas, the show,Avenue Q was very good and good value. The buffet is simple and limited but the food is well prepared and tasty. Sadly, the service was poor. When we first sat down, the waiter was very quick to offer us drinks, we did not order any, and rarely saw him after that. Didn't even get a thank-you at the end of the evening.

The food was Great lots to chose from and my wife can be a picky eater. But even she had plenty to choose from Love the roast beef. Guess that is why Kiwanis has been meeting there for 38 years. The Staff was helpful and answered questions we had about the show. I personally like the reto chairs I am very tall and the were comfortable to sit in for the show. And really each act is an hour. I have been to theaters on Broadway and my knees hit the chair in front of me not pleasant. The show was great as good as I have seen in New York. The theater has been running for 40 years that says a lot about the owners. Rather than complaining people support it they deliver a great consistent product at a great price. Less expensive than going to dinner and a movie and you get a live show.

The theater itself is in DIRE need of remodeling/revitalization. From the plastic chairs to the filthy carpet it brings to mind one of the old movie theaters that have long since been torn down. With respect to the food....it should be good to bear in mind that it is a dinner theater and these types of venues are not known for great food! The show....in and of itself...was entertaining but certainly did not live up to the "reviews". The "Evening with Dame Edna" was poorly attended (it could have been due to a competing motorcycle event in the downtown area} but I interviewed several people at the intermission who were leaving the theater and headed for their cars. While it was an entertaining "drag" show with some "good" moments, it certainly never came close to measuring up to the original "Dame Edna" performances. We had a few good laughs but overall were disappointed "possums", grateful that the ticket price (sans food) was only $30.00.

The entertainment is always so great, but the food is definitely less than the best, it really needs some attention!

As a resident of the Sarasota area I think the Golden Apple Theatre is one of the best price performers in Florida. The buffet dinners are good and the performances are excellent for a small dinner theatre. Also .. there's not a bad seat in the house so don't be afraid to sit in the back. If you're expecting Broadway you'll be disappointed ... but for a small dinner theatre experience and a fun evening, you can't beat the Golden Apple.

The entire experience was terrific, from the food and the wait staff, to the actors' performances and the musical accompanyment! Keep up the good work! I'll be back for certain!

Golden Apple is a wonderful place to eat and to see great entertainment. I can not wait to go back. My next visit there will be family vacation. I will bring my mother and my children they will all love the experience. I will definitely pass the word around thank you Golden Apple!

I saw "NUNSENSE II " here. Very comfortable seating...good food though the variety is limited. I visit Sarasota twice a year and always anxiously look at what is coming in the months ahead.

I've been to the Golden Apple several times. While I like it very much, I have not been to any other dinner theatre either. The food is good. The staff is friendly and attentive. The shows I've been too have been light musicals, and were thourghly enjoyable. When I saw "Singing in the rain" I thought the performers out-did Gene Kelly and Donald O'Conner. It's an older venue, and can get a little cramped at times, especially in the Winter when everyone comes to Sarasota to escape the cold. That said, we love going there.
