Great Vintage Bar - Skip the Mai Tai

Great relatively unspoiled example of a Motel Tiki Bar circa 1950s. Friendly people and staff. Check out the local original art. Very small with good details and cheap drink prices. The BAD - Worst Mai Tai ever made with cheap wells and pre-mix syrup. PLEASE do not judge the Mai Tai drink by this example. Outback Steakhouse has a better Mai Tai hands down. Stick with a simple Meyers or a Mt Gay Rum mixer - it's as close to a tiki drink as you will come. Worth the trip though!

A Classic Tiki Hut

Not to be missed if you are near Sarasota and Route 41.We have been going for 10 years, and NEVER been disappointed.No Hats or Tank Tops but PLENTY of fun and excellent Mai Tais.Don't let a little smoke scare you off, the Mai Tais are worth it, especially from The Big Kahuna(Tim):) Mike and Janet M. my first maitai

this place is one of the last great local bars, everyones nice, drinks ar strong and cheep,and you will leave beliving i'ts still 1954 and the world famous maitai ,two limit max,for 5.00 bucks this place is great,i go back once a year to see if it's changed. nope my parents aer ringling school alumni and they say it has not changed since then.i'm 40 so what does that tell ya, go

Its great if you want to get smashed

We were a group of 4, went out for my brother's 27th birthday. Its a tiny place with tiny tables. Dark and smoky. the good thing is that there is a bouncer who checks your ID's at the door, and from what Ive heard they are pretty strict about it. The bad thing is that it was very smoky (im a non-smoker, I guess I should have known better), and very loud. I guess the place is great if you are there to get drunk and enjoy some loud times with your friends. The prices were pretty good through, and we had a LOT of drinks.
