Crab & Fin Restaurant
Famous for their extensive collection of favorite and exotic seafood that is flown in from around the world and filleted on site, this attractively decorated restaurant specializes in quality fin fish, as well as shellfish, caviar selections, housemade pastas, handmade breads, and a large selection of fresh quality meats, chops, and sandwiches. A lovely sidewalk cafe with live piano background music is also an option for enhancing your dining experience. They are open daily for lunch and dinner.
We had reservations at 7:00 and arrived promptly at 7:00. We inquired about outside seating and were told to go out and select ANY table. We did, and after a short wait, a person (I assume a Manager) came up to us and told us we could NOT sit at that table. The table was reserved for people that pay $200/year for special seating. I asked this rude person how we would have known that fact. After being asked to leave, it was embarrassing in front of other diners sitting around. It completely ruined our dining experience at this BELOW AVERAGE restaurant. I would NOT recommend this place to anyone and will NEVER return. The food was POOR the service was BELOW average and the VERY RUDE manager needs to find other work that does not have to deal with the public. Do yourself a favor and go somewhere else.
Our favorite was the appleslaw side. It was delicious and a very pleasant surprise. The crabcakes were excellent as was the salmon and brie sandwich was a winning combination.
Our waitress was attentive and pleasant. The piano music gave a very pleasant and relaxing air to the afternoon. Can't wait to go back for a visit.
This was our first time in the Sarasota area and we had heard from many people that the Crab & Fin was the best place to eat. Being from New England we're true critics of seafood and had very high expectations. The Crab & Fin exceeded our expectations both with food and service. The meal was on of the best dining experiences we've ever had and one of the main highlights of our trip. Highly recommended and a great value if you catch the early bird before 5:45.
There's nothing negative to say. It's a wonderful atmosphere, professional staff, & fabulous food. It's worth every minute of the wait you may experience during traditional dinner times of the busy season. I would probably leave small children at home for the evening, but everyone is welcome. Dress nice but casual.
The Gazpacho is great and they do have an extensive menu. Haven't delved upon the menu items really in depth, but so far the food is up to par. The piano in the background sitting in the outdoor cafe on a Saturday evening is a nice touch. If you are familiar with Capital Grille and McCormick & Scmicks, this restaurant is great in regards to location. Pricey menu to supplement good food but is a great place to bring that special someone to on a romantic evening. Well behaved children I have witnessed there so if you have sugar-hyper kids, go to Dennys. Overall, an affluent atmosphere where you don't need a tux to enjoy.
It is wonderful to have such a varied selection of fresh seafood. We wish there was a restaurant of it's equal in New England. We would be remiss not to mention the freshly baked and delicious bread. The staff is attentive, well-trained, and always pleasant. We frequently visit Crab & Fin when in the Sarasota area.
After recommendation, we were looking forward to our meal at this restaurant. Having travelled extensively worldwide both on business and pleasure, I can confirm that this is the worst meal with the worst staff I have ever come across. Our server was rude and aggressive, and consequently our food was delivered incorrect and at different times to our group, and she had the audacity to blame us. It was cold and unappetsizing. We hade dead flies on our salad, on our fruit and in our drinks. When enough was enough the manager (if indeed, he was the manager) was equally as rude and supportive of his staff. He could learn a lot about customer service from a well known fast food joint. One can only assume they reply on walk in trade around St Armands to have this attitude, but I for one will not be recommending this to any of my clients, and in future will walk on by to Hemmingways, or the Hungry Fox is a better choice. You have been warned!
