I'll be back
By A Yahoo Contributor, 2/13/10
When my laptop computer quit working in the Spring of 2009 I had heard someone say "try the Cultural Centre"..so I did..they offer free high speed internet with 2 computers for use. Just leave your drivers license and they give you the key. While I'm computing my wife is shopping for the "$5" outfit or the .25 cent book. All of the people associated with the Centre smile and try to be helpful..The computer club guys even made me a rescue disk to try and revive my laptop. We love this area that's why we are back this year staying and spending in Port Charlotte...Gene from Canada
The Charlotte Players is a non profit organization and the only affiliation it has with the Cultural Center is that they rent the theater.
This is no different than the movie theater having a bad movie. No one yelled at Cinemax when they showed Gigli!
The Cultural Center in itself offers so much to the community at little to no expense. It is home of the 50 cent coffee, and 25 books. You can buy a whole outfit for under 5 dollars and a lunch for 4 dollars. I took a computer class there for 20 bucks and now I can respond to messages like this.
The Charlotte Players need some help. Their
dated, old-fashioned offerings like THE
RAINMAKER with a 50 year "Lizzie" are in poor taste. Seek professional help. I a not sure who would enjoy these poorly directed
ventures. These folks need a consultant or new management.
The Charlotte Players, the group that performs at the CulCen, are awful. They don't ever seem to let anyone new join in the fun, the same mediocre actors are in EVERY show. The selection of plays is dismal. How many times can you rehash "The Music Man" before the locals form a mob and burn down the theatre? Honestly, the only good thing about the CulCen is Valerie Sneade.
