Flounder's Chowder House
Overlooking Santa Rosa Sound, this restaurant is filled with stained glass windows and bookshelves giving it a cozy atmosphere while serving up flounder just about any way you can imagine. They also feature a wide variety of seafood, sandwiches, burgers, and salads on their menu and live reggae music is performed every night during the summer in the bar. They are open daily for lunch and dinner.
I've been going to Flounder's since I was a teenager.
Best place on the beach for seafood.
Over looking the baby, the scenery can't be beat. Combined with impeccable service, quality seafood, and atmosphere on Pensacola Beach can capture, Flounder's is a local favorite.
The first thing was that the one that seated us did as were we wanted to seat and tried to put us outside on a very hot day. the next was the waiter took for ever getting to the table we like to have never got out silverware. the food was over cooked, the raw oysters were so small and old looking until i was scared to eat them, beer was hot from the bottle and tap. the food was very pricey and i will never go back it was a terrible lunch!
We went to Flounders for dinner. The Wait staff was very pushy. We had calamari, that was very rubbery.
One of us had chicken wings that had feathers still on them that were about an inch long.
One regular sized rum and diet coke cost us $10.00.
The food is overpriced and very mediocre.
It has such potential, with the nice atmosphere, but the food is not worth the money.
We visit Pensacola/Destin every year, and we have always made it a point to stop here. Unfortunately, I think our visit this summer might have been our last. We arrived around 8:00, ate dinner, had some drinks and were enjoying our time by the ocean. We were a little disappointed because no server ever came to our table after dinner, so we always had to go to the bar. However, we knew it was busy so we didn't let it bug us. Later a band started to play. After listening to the band for about 20 minutes, I got up to go to the restroom and was stopped on my way back by a bouncer who wouldn't let me back in unless I paid $10 for cover for the band. I didn't have my purse with me so he waited for a manager to escort me back to the table to get my money. When we got back to the table he told my whole party we were going to have to pay another $40 or leave. After spending a lot of money there already and being treated very rudely, we decided to leave. The manager told us that this was just their policy; one that unfortunately cost them a few returning customers.
This my favorite restaurant. We have gone to Flounders every trip to P'cola since 1991. We will be heading there promptly after my daughter's beach wedding in August 2007. Yum. Can hardly wait!
Everything is perfect.
The people here were very friendly and funny. Our waitress was extremely helpful. I went with my wife, two children, and two grandmothers. The setting was quite good and the food was awesome. The key lime pie was HUGE! Don't miss this place
I hadn't been to Flounders in a few years, so I wasn't prepared for the change. The restaurant has made a complete transformation for the worse. It has changed from a pleasant, casual atmosphere to the ultra family style restauant complete with bench seating and ketchup smears on the seats. The menu, too, has changed catering to the young family crowd with no imagination in eating. I was very disappointed as I enjoyed the atmosphere and food in the past.
I recently went to Flounders for lunch on a Tuesday afternoon with some friends from work. After and hour and twenty minutes without getting our food, we got up and left. I am a local and just had my last experience at Flounders. I'll be dining at Peg Legs.
Flounders is one of those places that looks great from the outside...and then you sit down to eat. The service was terrible and the food was mediocre and all fried so my advice is to only check this place out if you are into having a grilled cheese with your children (kids love it).
Flounders is a perfect place for families to enjoy seafood and beach atmosphere. The bright tropical shirts on all the servers were one of the attractions for me. I want one of those! Of course the Kalua drink was fantastic too.
