Psychedelic Shack, Pensacola

Very disappointing experience getting a tattoo at Psychedelic Shack. First thing, they demand payment before you get tattooed. Most places don't do that. They do bad tattoos so maybe that's why (too many disappointed customers running out on the bill). I had a female tattoo artist working with me and I think her name was Linda (this was a couple years ago). After she started tattooing it became apparent that she was under the influence of something. She fell off her stool but said she was ok. She repeatedly dropped the black ink cup on the floor (I was getting a black tatt). She really wasn't wiping down the tatt in between inking so my arm was a mess. It was hard to see how the design was turning out. Then she dropped the machine on the floor and was going to continue tattooing without sterilizing it. I stopped her and left the shop. When I got home and cleaned up my arm I saw my design was messed up. I was getting a vampire done in black ink. The mouth would be open and all black inside except for the fangs. She poorly did that and then to make it worse....she covered one fang with black ink. A one fanged vampire....how lovely. *rolls eyes* I tell everyone I talk to not to go to this place and then show them the proof. I have been told by a couple other shops that it cannot be fixed so I have a cover-up scheduled. DO NOT GO HERE!!!! You will regret it.

On vacation from El Dorado, Arkansas - stopped in, asked if I could get a tattoo - next day I had my first ink - loved the shop, could work me in, and best of all Jake Eve's was great.....

I like the Psychedelic Shack they are an amazing shop that you can just get along with. One of the best tattoo artists is Jake Eve. He is a genus with a tattoo machine he also gives great advice on where the best place to put a tattoo for future purposes to be able to hide it if needed. The final thing I have to say is that his shading is in fact the best i have ever seen and I enjoy his just hanging out with this man, because he always knows how to make someone laugh. Other then that I have nothing bad to say about that place but only if you get a tattoo somewhere else you won't get the quality from anyone else.

for the record, there haven't been tattoo artists at the navy blvd store for over a year. i'm not sure where that last person was, but it definitely was NOT the psychedelic shack.

The people there are too stoned to do a tattoo nevermind a good tattoo. There are plenty of other places that will give you a great experience.

I've lived in Pensacola for 5 years now, And getting tattooed has been a way of life, Finding a good artist is key. I stepped into Psych Shack...And Phil was the first artist to greet me. After looking at his work. I had my decision. Phil is a very talented artist, And there isn't much he can't handle, He's done my black and grey work, My color work. All have healed up nicely with very little skin trauma, As a tattoo artist (me now) I have gone to him about 10 times. The man really knows what he is doing. And does his job efficiently. I've always asked Phil "When did you start tattooing?" He always talks about how he was laying lines on skin, Before he even GOT tattooed. Which is pretty cool to me. He has a deep passion for it. As well as a lot of respect for his clients. Now. The other artist, (CAN'T THINK OF HIS NAME) He is in his mid 20's and he also has raw talent. I'm planning a full sleeve with him soon, He excells in oriental art. I haven't seen better Asian themed pieces in the area. Much love to Phil and all the other people at Psych Shack on Plantation. NOTE: A couple things about reviewers here.... It is not a tattoo "gun" It is a machine, Guns kill, Machines create. TWO: Don't bicker about prices, If you want the best work, You have to pay for it. Tattooing is an art, And the artists should be compensated well for their pieces. Tips are appreciated everywhere. But Psych Shack works out great deals.

I just got a tattoo from Phil and I won't go anywhere else. I was really scared about getting my first tattoo and he really made me feel comfortable. The new store looks great too. I will be back.

I have been going to the Psychedelic Shack for over 10 years and always liked it, but not I am in love with it. They just gave the whole place a facelift and it looks great. The staff is still super cool and helpful, but they have added a huge waiting area for the tattoos and piercing (I have 3 piercings and one tattoo from there and love them all.) They changed the counters, the lighting, the walls and everything. And it still smells great. Good job!

I really liked the atmosphere of the shop. The employees are down to earth and very helpful. I got my belly button repeirced there and they did an excellent job. I also got a tattoo on the small of my back, but the dimensions were offset and I went to April's Attic to get the outline fixed and to get the shading done. I would shop there and get peirced there, but never get inked there again.

I have been going to the Psychedelic Shack for about five years now. I've gotten two piercings there and have no complaints whatsoever. They are very professional when it comes to piercings and do a great work. As for the store itself, I love just walking around and looking at all the little trinkets & oddities, plus the incense smells wonderful! (Also, their neighbor, Living Art Tattoos does a really good job if you're ever looking for a good tattoo parlor.)
