Known for their "mesquite-broiled cowboy steaks," this restaurant serves some of the best steaks on the Gulfcoast with a menu that includes your favorite full cut steak, barbecue chicken, and baby back ribs. They are open daily for lunch and dinner.
Food was cooked beforehand and some was not even heated up. Potato was old and ribs were cold. Worst beans ever! Expensive for what you got. Never again. Atmosphere was like sitting in a warehouse and having a loud speaker come on over and over again!
we had gone to ft. walton for a long labor day weekend. mesquite charlies came very highly recommended by friends who went several years earlier. they suggested that we call ahead for reservations.
well, when we called to make reservations, they laughed and said we didn't need reservations. that should have been our clue that things had gone downhill. but wanting the great steaks and atmosphere we had heard about, we made the 60 minute trip anyway.
recap: about half of the menu items were temp. unavailable, what we did order was very bland and tough, very disappointing to say the very least. it is a shame that the place has changed that much.
First visit w/ a group of ladies, i fell in love. The atmosphere, service and food was fantastic. So good i decided to save my yard sale money and treat my steak-luv'n husband & shrimp luv'n daughter to a relaxing evening at "my" new found resturant, they fell in love at first bite!!, after dinner we moved outside to have dessert..never happened to stuffed from the wonderful dinner.
We will be back.
my wife and i was with a party of 15 people. the food was plentiful but not cooked to our liking. but with a call to manager the next day was told to try again. we will try again and let you know how it went!!!
This restaurant has been around for many years. I remember going before and the steaks were fantastic. But, something has changed within the last five years. I have gone recently twice and the steaks were fair and the service standard. The prices were increased, which I would understand but the quality does not match the price. The atmosphere is unique, which is a big draw. Unfortunately, the atmosphere is not worth the prices assigned. I hope that things improve. I would love to add Mesquite Charles back to my regular rotation.
They had the best steak I have ever had. I had the 32oz Porterhouse cooked a medium. I was very tender and juciy. The service was a little slow but well worth it. I was with a group of 10 and the waitress droped one of the plates of steak. But we all got free desert and he got his secon steak free. Great place. I will be back and recomend to others.
The steak was great. I ate a 32OZ T Bone that I thoroughly enjoyed. They cooked it on an outdoor grill with mesquite wood. Good atmosphere. Service was a little slow. However, my overall experience was good enough to go back for seconds. The serving was so big I might have to split it with my wife.
