Bay Dunes Golf Club
Located just 7 miles north of the Panama City Mall and convenient to both the beach and downtown, this full-facility public golf course is ideal for anyone looking for a trip through the links. Built in 1988, Bay Dunes is an 18 hole public course with full practice facilities and four sets of tee to accommodate any ability level, and PGA instruction is available by appointment. Pick up any items you've forgotten, or perhaps a souvenir, from the well-stocked pro shop. Stop by the Bar & Grill after your round of golf for some traditional American fare with a view of the 9th and 18th holes. Blending the beauty of sea and land, Bay Dunes is waiting to help you get your golf fix.
i did not like it at all really but i was just angry that day.while i was there i got hit in the head with a golf ball it was not so fun.and i got a flat tire there but i dont think it was there fault but none the less i just did not like it.
I can't warn people loud enough to avoid this course at all costs. The "pro shop" looked like it had just been robbed, and was being attended by kids wearing gym shorts and tee shirts. These same kids who did not care enough to dress like they were working at a golf course are evidently the same ones maintaining it.
The course was just terrible. They were literally mowing the fairways with a bushhog WHILE WE WERE PLAYING IT on a Saturday morning. If you played a hole before it was bushhogged, you were playing in grass up to your knees. If you played a hole after it was bushhogged, it was the equivalent of playing golf in a freshly cut hayfield. I lost so many balls on this course that were in the fairway where I simply gave up in looking through the clumps of grass. Again, this was the fairway, not the distance rough. Since the grass was so high or the clippings so deep, the ground was never able to dry out in the sun. Every shot was a mudball, and it had not rained in days. You would get no roll out, with the grass being so high or the clumps so huge.
If I had to name a couple of positives, it would be that my playing partner and I kept noticing what a great course this could be if the owners simply cared. The palm trees, dunes, ponds and layout were fantastic. The greens were even pretty good. It was the course itself. Had we paid $10 and were told about the conditions, it would be one thing. But we were charged full price and were playing on a Saturday morning on Labor Day Weekend. Save your money and gas (it's a bit of a drive outside of PC) and play a course in town.
This course was great for all four of us guys. We were greeted kindly and liked the prices for the 18 holes and snack bar items. We thought the course to be mixed properly with hole types. Made for a great day on the links.
