Captain Anderson's Restaurant, Panama City Beach

has anyone else noticed that the open hearth grill has been removed from capt. Anderson's and replaced with gas grills... We received our food and it was horrible. We have been going there for 10 plus years and it was the worst ever and we will not be back ever again. Please do not waste your time going there.when they removed the open hearth grill they took out the whole meaning of capt. Andersons. And to beat it all they are still advertisting that they have it. Sorry but it isn't worth it!!

Take a look at the date on the other reviews we didn't. Things must have changed over the years and not for the better. The service was poor and they had an attitude that we were not good enough to be there. (guess I forgot to park the Aston Martin at the front door.) If you are a common family go to a good restraunt. We have two kids and this is not a kid friendly place. We thought at first it was just a bad experience, but friends of ours were in Panama City and ate there the next day. Guess what it was the same for them. Have you been to Red Lobster lately, great go back it will be better and at half the price. Seriously don't do it..... ask around for the good places I don't think the locals will recommend Capt. Andersons.

Way to expensive for the quality of food. Paid $6.00 for grandaughter's bowl of mac & cheese, no accompaniments. Waitress was belittling. Had to point out that is was real cheese with the mac. Like my granddaughter had only ever had boxed!! Came to check on us only once. Lobster over cooked! The food came out of the kitchen fast. Husband's steak cooked perfect. Other tables were served bowls of hushpuppies, we got 3 on each plate. Husbands were normal size, mine were tiny and the grandaughter didn't get any. Not a great experience!

This is the best food I have ever had. I rank this at the top of my list for taste and experience. A little noisy but well worth it. The gift shop employees were very professional and friendly also. I am from out of town but will be going back.

I have returned to this classic restaurant for over 25 years. The wait can be long so go early. The quality of the food and the great service is amazing based on the volume of food they serve. Anything grilled is wonderful. I am not a fan of their fried food because of my roots as a fisherman and dockside fish fries. I prefer the whole grilled red snapper when it is available and as a second choice the whole grilled pompano. The shrimp and crabmeat au gratin and stuffed shrimp are my wife's favorites. Wonderful fresh breads and a dynamite tomato greek salad raise the bar. I have found the deserts look much better than they taste. If you desire something sweet, drive down the beach to Thomas' Donut Shop! Enjoy

Everything was wonderful. Awesome fresh seafood. Great desserts. Great view of the water. For the money you get alot of food. I just love this place. It will always be my favorite.

Our son has been stationed in at Tyndal AFB for about nine years now. We go to Capt.Anderson's each time we visit. The fish is always fresh,the food is excellent,the waitresses very efficient,courteous and friendly and I can not say enough about it.The tables are the doors from an old ship and you cannot go to PC without eating there. I have instructed my family that when I die, my ashes are to be sprinkled in the bay by Capt. Anderson's!!

There are not any thing bad to say abut this place. When we come to Fla. we always eat here. We have never had a bad experience.

My husband and I have be going to Panama City for years and always stop by to have a beer on the upper deck and listen to the music it is the best part of Capt'n Andersons, The food inside is not great and overprice, but we are headed back, my 8 year old son loves the ships and the guys who do the balloon animals. The upper deck or the food down below on the docks is better than the food inside.

My family and I just returned from Panama City Beach, and we went to Captain Anderson's not once, but twice because the food was so good the first time we went. We went around 6:30 p.m. both evenings, and walked right in and sat down. There were people milling about, looking at things, but there was no wait either time, except in the gift shop / marketplace. My husband and I ordered their seafood platters both nights and were just in heaven. The fish was divine, the shrimp and scallops melted in our mouths and the crab was delicious. The bread and salads were terrific too. We have an 8-year-old that thoroughly enjoyed the Fettucini Alfredo. The restaurant is a big one -- we estimated that there were probably 500 people there with us each night -- at least -- but it didn't seem crowded at all to us. The servers that we had were wonderful. They were very attentive and we never had to ask for anything at all. All in all, this was a terrific restaurant!!!
