First of all, it all depends on who your trolley driver is. When we boarded the trolley, our driver/tour guide sounded more like a judge admonishing the jury of what they can and cant do on the trolley. She even recommended that we dont go to Tin City, because it's a tourist trap, which is true, but at least the food there is more reasonable than the "dump" she suggested when we got off at this high-priced shopping center, which looked more like a ghost town, and this was on a Saturday. Anyways, to make a long story short, when we got back on the trolley, thank God it was someone much nicer.......but like a reviewer said, you need your mute button, this is definitely the one they were probably talking about.
The bus was bumpy, hot, and not air conditioned. The driver acted like he didn't want to be driving the bus. This is strictly a bus ride without any sightseeing. There is no discussion about the history or historic buildings. All the tour does is stop and pick up at hotels and other locations. This tour is a waste of time and a waste of money.
The only information that we learned was where one finds all the fancy hotels. We spent way too much time in a place called Pelican Bay, a place for the rich and famous, driving on the main street hearing about his favorite famous person, Judge Judy. We never learned any history nor did we go by the Naples Pier, a favorite spot to visit. Avoid this tour, save your money and drive around yourself.
Really fast errant driver. Bus shuttle from parking lots to hotels on the main drag. Did not get to the old Naples area. Ran down US 41 like a race car. Spun in and out of mall, hotels, tin city. Every big tree is a "banyan" and talked about how much money stuff cost. A big Come on disapointment.
This trolley tour is actually a bus scheduled to make pick ups at all of the condominiums and hotels in Naples. While the driver is on his route and careful to adhere to schedule, he does mention different points of interest about Naples, but make no mistake, this is more of bus route than a trolley tour with hop-on and hop-off priveleges. As a matter of fact, on the day that my friends and I took the tour, the driver never mentioned to us about where we should get off or where we would be able to get back on.
After taking real bus tours in New York City and Providence RI that were indeed historic and interesting tours along with suggested spots to get on and off, I can't imagine how this 'ride' could be billed as a historical introduction to the city of Naples, FL.
This ‘tour’ was nothing more than taking a bus ride while the driver’s main goal seemed to be making pick-ups at all of the hotels and condos and making comments about Naples. Charging $25.00 per person and calling it a trolley tour of Naples with the ability to hop-on and hop-off (never happened) is a wonderful way to cash in on the tourist industry.
Nevertheless, this is not the usual on and off trolley tour as in most other cities.
I have taken friends and family on this trip around Naples, Florida several times. A great way to introduce them to this area and the narative is excellent. Everyone has enjoyed it. Will be taking 4 more guests on this tour again next week.
The trolley company was not represented well on the last run of this day - Nov. 23, 2007. The counter clerk was not service friendly - there were coupons nearby that she did not point out, plus did not mention senior citizen discount. The first phase was not pleasant as we traveled a main road and stopped for pick-up, whatever, at hotels. However, the last phase was interesting because of old Naples history. We had a baby and 4 year old on board with us. The driver drove too fast, however, by this time we really wanted to get this trip over fast, too. It was a cooler day and most of the windows were up. The driver did not ask if there was anything he could do for our comfort. Adults in our group were 3 in my party and then 4 guests in another, totaling 7. Not worth the money. Because this has been bothering me, I finally decided to act within this review.
The most awful experience ever. The trolley
smelled like vomit. The backseats are missing their padding. The tour driver looks like he drank all night long and just woke up. Every other word out of the trolley driver is tip or tip or maybe tip. Then they have you get off and wait 15 minutes at their "Store". What a joke. I enjoy a trip to the gas station better than I did there. Nothing on the shelves had prices. The store clerk was maybe 15 years old. Employees smoking everywhere you go. Just a horrible experience.
The trolley covers all the highlights of Naples with excellent, fun guides describing all the areas of interest. You can get on and off at leisure for the entire day.
This was the best $20.00 we spent during our stay. I would suggest this for all visitors along with their Everglades tour.
the naples trolley tour is an excellent way to familiarize yourself with the naples area. You are allowed free reboarding throughout the day w/ the purchase of a ticket and that is extremely useful. Just got off at any one of the stops and simply reboard an hour later and on the tour goes. I would certainly bring my family on it again!
